Oh nice!
Hey just out of curiosity, what do you normally use at the sniper match? How about you Skullboy?
Don't mean to hijack :).

The only change will be a NEAR 30 MOA tapered Picatinney base that is being made at this moment.

Here's what I shoot.
new031.jpg

Was a 700p but now has a 5R barrel and a HS stock with adjustable pull and cheek height.Leupy Mk 4 M1 10x.20 moa rail on top.Custom detachable mag system built around M14 mags by our very own Grens Vegter.Tactical bolt knob also done by GV.

No it isn't.I like the V-Bull one but thought the mags looked a little fragile. So we did this one up and it is amaizing.Never had a stoppage yet.Grens Vegter is currently putting one on one of VPD's guns.Mine was the trial run.The new one is a Mk 2 and is very slick. :)

The V-Bull Conversion uses 10 round AICS mags. They are no where near fragile, and feed flawlessly!!!:D

I have seen Longshots DM set up. It is a VERY sweet thing to behold. GrensVegter did one hell of a job on it.

The best M40A1 rifles I have seen built were built by Iron Brigade Armory and GA Precision as both companies have former USMC 2112 armorers working for them. On the Unertl scope, it is hands down the most rugged and battle proven sniper scope ever built. It will be interesting to see if current scopes in service will hold up for the same amount of time as the Unertl has.

Ask "Reaper" here about the "Melting" Mildots on the Unertl scopes in CF use during really hot weather...................not that rugged...........;)

Unertl scopes suck...they are dated have very little MOA in that little 1" tube you can pound nails with it but the insides suck

IMHO

Jamie

No doubt they are dated, but they are still the proven scope. Not my favorite, but said problems that SB talked about with the Canadains were upgrades that US Optics made to them as well as few others. That MST-100 along with the Unertl were very good scopes, but yes Jamie you are correct, they are dated. It is to bad that more scope companies do not make the dual knob system like Unertl did, the rough come ups and then fine tune for both windage and elevation, that is an awsome feature. I heard a rumor at the SHOT show that Leupold was working on a scope with this system, that wpould be a nice scope. But the M40A1 was certainly the "coolest" sniper rifle of all time, come you have to agree with that.

Kano,

You have a point, the C14 is awsome, but that M40A1 was doing it when anything sniper or sniper rifle was taboo, now sniper and sniper rifle is everywere and everyone wants one or has one. For todays standards, no doubt, the C14 Timberwolf is king of the world, but the M40A1 is just soooooooo cool and it will always have the stigma.

Nice rig LS!

Steve: I think the M40 and M24 are still two of my all-time favorites, but I gotta say...that C-14 is freaking gorgeous. Oh and the S&B on top of that thing is amazing too.

melting Mil Dots wasn't the half of it,cross hairs " springing " loose, canting, and just breaking was another common fault, loss of zero was another big problem. I could go on about the Unertal piece of crap...but I haven't got all night.
