I got a USP custom sport a month ago or so and I have to say the mags that came with it are utter crap! Not only do they feel like they are disposable and meant to be used once but its almost impossible to fill them up with 10 rounds without the lips opening up on top.

I know i've seen the sheet metal mags, are these still available or is it only plastic now? I dont mind plastic, I mean even glock did it right, but these HK's are just pure nonsense!

buy some full capacity mags that are pinned to 10rds, they load easier.
Have you experienced any malfunctions with the 10rd mags?

For the USP compact you mean?

i have not had any problems with the 10rd mags, but they may not seat as easily when they are new. I have stepped on them and dropped them on concrete and in the mud....no problems...
The followers are plastic and may chip after a lot of use.
THe white mags are more Brittle IMO.

So there are no other options for USP mags? The sheet metal ones are for compacts only?

Seriously though, one of the 2 mags doesnt fit 10 rounds and when u force the 10th one in then the lips open up...havent had any failures with them but I just dont like them, they are crap. For 40 bucks a pop they should at least be on par with glock mags.

Shop around my friend!!! Even in Canada they have been on sale for less than that, and in the USA, the 10rd mags are at best $8, and the highest $18.(?)
Try Cals sporting armory in the USA.

I have had no issue with my USP mags so far and can fit 10 rounds in them without issue.

I have a Sig P226 and the mags for that are almost impossible to load to 10, even after leaving the mags load for a week at a time.

Ill admit I havent been shopping around for any, but then why was it such a big deal when they were 30 bucks from tse on sale? The quality of these mags makes me want to pay no more then a buck fifty for em...I guess 10$ USD might have to do; buy a few extra and chuck the bad ones.

Quite frankly its suprising that a company who is vastly becoming a polymer super power can produce second rate stuff like this. Even what little sheet metal they did use in the mag, and overmolded onto, is splitting away from the plastic...Oh well, at least the USP itself kicks ass

45 caliber mags are metal. I've also found USP mag springs to be very stiff. But, they do loosen up in time.

By the way, the ultra-cheap mags have come and gone. You won't find them now for under $20 in the US. I don't know of any shops selling them cheap any more.

Check ebay. I'm still buying 45 USP mags for 15 - 19 USD.

My 9mm custom sport mags are fine. I did have one mag load funky where it would only hold 8. So I took out all the rounds and reloaded them and all 10 fit fine no problems, not even hard to put them all in.

I saw in cdnninvestments.com newest catalog they have new HK mags pretty cheap. I bought 3 off of ebay for like 20 bucks recently so Im good with 6 mags. :D
