I am looking at picking up a used USP Custom Sport, but do not know which variant it (ie safety or decocker). I seem to remember reading somewhere that you could change them from one variant to the other. I maybe incorrect about this. If anyone can provide some further information, it would be great.:)

Also what type of holster are people using with thier USP's in general or Custom Sports. I will be doing IPSC with it. I do not want a race holster and prefer a duty type holster. Opinions appreciated.

Thanks

all USPs (aside from the P8), comes /w Variant 1, system
-switch up for SAFE, switch down for FIRE, and really far down to decock

congrats, you won't be disappointed, the regular USP has been a tack driver for me, and the match sights and trigger only improves upon that...

Get the BladeTech holster. I believe the front sight is too high on the Custom Sport to fit properly in a Fobus or similar holster.

you are correct. The front sight is too high to fit into a Fobus. A dropped and offset bladetech is what I would use if I didn't have a Speedsec holster.
I have a regular Bladetech belt holster as well, but I find it a tad bit too high on the hip, and also too close; hence my rec on the Dropped and Offset Bladetech. The BT is also adjustable for tension, while the Fobus is not. I found the Fobus was harder on the finish of the USP.

I also changed it too a variant # 3, no safety, as I shoot from the DA for first shot. Costs about $13 and 30 seconds to change it from a V1 to a V3.

Thanks for the response guys. I will probably go with the Bladetech. What is the best way to get them? Is it by ordering direct from Bladetech or are there any stores that carry them?

Thanks

I bought a HK USP compact with factory extended threaded barrel from Wolverine. It does not have a decock function. I was kind of surprised??
Anyone else buy this gun yet? Can't wait to shoot it.

I bought one too, but it has not arrived yet.

Received my USP Tactical Compact from Al Simmon's last week..
Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but it has the O-ring barrel, and the
standard safety/decocker...

I have ordered direct from Blade-Tech and they were great to deal with. Shipping to Canada was not a problem. I believe 911 Supply in Calgary also sells them in Canada, though they only list Glock and S+W models on their site.
