I recently found out the H&K made a tactical version of the USP. The 9mm version is called the USP SD. It comes with threaded barrel, match trigger and adjustable sights. Supposed to be the regular sized version of the cool Mark 23 socom. Anyways, I've been quite drawn to pistol and have been searching the EE in hopes of finding one with no luck. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this pistol and if it performs any better than the regular USP 9mm. I've shot my friend's stainless slide USP 9mm and I like it very much. Aesthetics wise, this pistol is a real cool looking. Any stories/experiences or tips on where I could find one would be very much appreciated.

I've not seen a USP SD for sale on the EE in my time here... that's not to say there hasn't been one I'm not sure if they are regularily imported to Canada. It may be a pistol that is just imported by HK USA? I know Wolverine had the Custom Sport which had the sights, match trigger but not the threaded barrel. If you contacted them they would be able to tell you whether you could get it or not. I would think though that if you wanted those two things (sights and trigger) you could look at the Custom Sport. I haven't shot one myself but some guys speak highly of them.

I would say another option is to get a USP Stainless (by far one of the best looking pistols in my opinion) and have Wolverine install new sights and the match trigger in it for you. The match trigger is great I have in my the Combat Competition which is a hybrid of the Match and LEM.. the best of both worlds but everyone looks for something different right?

I had a USP Tactical at one point but think that it's a compromise to the Mark 23... and it doesn't come close to being as nice to shoot or accurate as the Mark 23 is.

Good luck in your search.

I have both the Tactical .45 and the Mk 23. Both perfom very well, the Mk 23 is HUGE!! The Tactical fit me better and is a very good compromise. You wont see the difference in accuracy between the two unless you fire them both from a rest.

SD is for the US. The Custom Sport is available in Canada and is basically the same thing. They come in both threaded and non-theaded barrel versions (I have two threaded barrel versions). Other features that are similar to the Tactical:

adjustable, raised sights
match trigger
trigger over-travel screw

Awesome guns. Had to have two.

The threaded version... awesome! I'm not a fan of the raised adjustable sights... I guess I would be if we could use them the way they were intended!

The Mark 23 is definitely Huge and not for everyone. In terms of accuracy both are great but the Mark 23 has the advantage... you won't need a rest to see it.

Thanks guys for all your responses! I checked out Wolverine website and it looks like they do have it there for sale. Only thing is... $1430 for extended threaded barrel version of USP custom sport...OUCH! Even with the steep price, I really, really, really want it! I do have to agree, the USP stainless is one of the best looking pistols ever made. Right now I''m stuck in a dilema, should I buy my friend's stainless 9mm usp ($900) or a new 9mm custom sport w/ ext threaded barrel from Wolverine? The USP Tactical .45 looks really tempting too! I'm going nuts....hahaha. But I think, to be practical, this would be my first pistol purchase and would also be my main shooter (9mm is cheap) , besides I kinda want my .45 to be a 1911. I also really like the combat sights on that Custom Combat too! You guys are probably laughing at me, thinking, what a newb...lol. Decisions, decisions, decisions. (big sigh)

You should maybe contact Wolverine about the price. They haven't updated some of their prices online so it might be cheaper than that.

Get the stainless and if it doesn't have the Match trigger you can get it installed.

First time I handled the Mark 23, I laughed. You gotta have ginormous hands for it! Never got a chance to shoot it though.

doesn't the USP Tactical have a barrel too short for canada? that's why they got us the Custom Sport.

I'm still waiting to pick mine up...

The HK USP Tactical 9mm .40 S&W, and .45 Auto barrels are 4.56", 4.90", and 5.09" respectively. They're all longer than our restricted limit. Maybe you're thinking of the HK USP Compact being too short so they let us (lol) have the HK USP Compact Tactical.
