usp vs xd

I have both.... I prefer my USP CS (9mm) over my XD 45acp. But thats not saying the XD isn't a great gun. I love my XD and its a great shooter... but the trigger on my HK is much nicer IMO. And since your asking which is better, I'd choose the HK over the XD.
 
Dpending on your preferred grip you may like one over the other.. I found the grip on the USP to be "lager". i shoot the XD now, and not had a single problem in 6K rounds. try and get your hands on both to shoot (if you know someone who has one or the other).
 
I have tried both and bought the XD. Maurice... your right, they are not in the same league... the XD is not overpriced. I got 30000 rounds thourgh my XD before I had my first jam... and it still has all its factory parts in it.

You should buy the pistol that feels good to you reguardless of the price.

I've played with both, and bought the XD for the fit of the grip. Now I'm just hopeing for a .22LR conversion kit. Mark
 
XD 9 mm jams with handloads?

How and why?
I assume it was not cycling hard enough. Too lite handloads?

I just bought a XD in 9mm. Want to start handloading too.
Starting with the minimum load in a reloading book the gun should cycle day in day out right?

Any advice from you handloaders?
I have win 231 powder, win primers, and 124g jacketed bullets.
 
to me the jamming looked like a problem with the brass. Locally the competitor chamber checked each round, and still had some jams.
 
Since getting my XD40, I have exclusively used lead handloads. No problems in now approx 3000 rounds. I also found that using LEE lead lube dramatically reduces leading and increased accuracy.

I ordered it after the 2002 Nationals in Halifax, Nick M. brought a few down for shooters to try. I tried, I liked, I bought, and I never regretted it.

I still use it in IPSC, IDPA, 2 & 3 gun matches.

Downward with an XD? I thought it had ambi mag release, but thought it went in?
For the HK I use my trigger finger, I would have to re-adjust my grip to get it with my thumb.
 
I was going through a similar debate about a week ago. I'm opting for the USP because of the mag release, which I like very much, and that it has a convention 'hammer' with the standard S/F/Decock lever. I'm not a fan of the XD's safeties and more 'plastic' like feel.

If possible, get your hands on both and see which one you like.

I would compare XD vs. Glock vs. SW M&P

I would compare USP vs. Sig 226

The XD is a nice piece for a budget minded shooter. Is the USP overpriced? Maybe but its still a very well crafted firearm with extremely good accuracy.

An XD's trigger, grip safety and mag release are all made of steel, not plastic... ;)
An XD is the least "plastic" feeling gun of all the polymer-framed guns I've tried, FWIW. YMMV, of course.
 
Shot both, loved both...bough the USP
They are both great weapons, both very accurate and reliable, both fit well in my hands. They are great value for the money. Try them if you have the chance. In the end it's all a matter of which one you prefer. Buy the one you really want, which ever one you pick you'll love it.
