I'm importing an antique revolver into Canada, got my antique letter and all, and when my seller went to send it to me he was apparently told that because it was an international shipment USPS would only ship it to a dealer in Canada, even though as an antique he could ship it to an individual within the US. Now, as far as I know that's completely out to lunch and sounds like a USPS employee making up the rules as they went along. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

Tell him to bring it to a different post office (or to the same one when that employee isnt there), and just declare it as 'pre-1898 antique ordinace' or similar.

I had a seller mark a customs form with just handgun as the item description
for a antique sharps pistol and they sent it.I think he was hoping it would be returned because i got it for next to nothing for the starting bid.he sells a lot of guns on gunbroker(wyat emp)so he should of known better.

If you live close to the U.S. border you can use shiptotheborder.com they
only charge $5.00 per item.

took me 3 months thru Visa to get my money back and i was lucky i still lost hunderds of dollars on the deal that at frist i thought was good.

What are the ways to tell a modern BP framed colt? If the patent lines are there and the axis pin is held in with the angled screw it should be good?

No that is not all there is to it.
they COLT Made EXACT Copys of orignal guns with the exact same patent dates screws in the front to.
Normally the SER # will give it away but some get renumbered.
