Any clubs in Ontario running sanctioned USPSA matches in Ontario? Any Clubs interested in starting? I'm willing to chip in and help how ever I can to get the sport rolling here.

I know a lot of us travel to the US anyways, so why not follow suit with BC and bring it here.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Isn't USPSA simply the American branch of IPSC? (Which is already in Ontario and elsewhere in Canada).

Rules differ and yes there are USPSA clubs in Canada.

What are the bigger differences between them in terms of rules? (I realize there are small technical differences). Something on the scale that might merit starting a new USPSA club instead of joining an existing IPSC club (or starting another one). Somewhat subjective question, I know.

Range Burlington is (was?) a USPSA affiliate.

I have an affiliate package I just have to get signed off by Sean, I keep trying to get together with him at matches but it never quite works out lol

It's not a huge deal, you can request the foreign club affiliate package from USPSA, it comes with pretty much all the material needed. You need 10 USPSA members in your club, so find out who is a member or sell some memberships, then fill out the application. Our Regional Director, Sean, has to sign off on it and then you submit to USPSA.

The bigger question is if participants in these uspsa matches must complete BB course and/or if they should be current ipsc members.

I can tell you what I was told by a USPSA BOD member. USPSA does not want to be seen as an alternate to or competing with another countries own IPSC affiliated group. If they believe they are being used so that people can shoot IPSC without joining their home region they will pull affiliation.
And since a club needs our regional directors sign off to become a USPSA foreign affiliate...

Why do you actually need affiliation or official sanctioning?

Can't you just run a bunch of unsanctioned matches, using USPSA rules?

The contrary, I want to shoot more, More IPSC more IDPA and more USPSA. I've traveling to the US to shoot some matches this yr. and would like to shoot some up here as well. This post is not to bring down any of the other shooting sports. I shoot them all and enjoy them all. Sometimes it would just be more convenient to shoot some USPSA here as well, work on skills, classification etc.

In that case, why don't you shoot more IPSC, instead of splitting resources to another sport? The skill set is really the same and you already have IPSC affiliation.
