Hey there fellow Foreign USPSA members.

Ballots for the USPSA presidential election have apparently hit the mail.

I thought I'd put a plug in here for a friend.

Manny Bragg is a good friend to Canadians; been at our nationals - comes to the country often for training in both the East and the West.
Puts on a hell of a show for us down in Florida

He's a bright guy, a really nice guy - a great shooter, instructor and good businessman. He'll make a great USPSA president.
He'll make a really good IPSC USA RD too. He knows IPSC well, and a strong voice from the US helps us in Canada get our point across in the General Assembly.

He's worth putting your vote in for.

To be honest, I never voted before but can you confirm on foriegners voting privileges as I am a lifetime USPSA member and would love to vote for Manny.
 
Manny has my vote.

Paul Hylard posted on Enos that foreign shooters get to vote and there is a unique code on the ballot when you get it so you can vote on line.
 
Manny is well known internationally and would make a good RD. Though Manny is also too nice person and too busy with competing, training people and running business, so it will be hard for him to give all that in order to keep a good attention on USPSA own needs, which currently may need a full time President to deal with its current issues...
 
Manny is a good shooter, and probably a real nice guy. Is he the best candidate for USPSA President? Read what each has to say in the latest issue of Frontsight. Search Youtube for Ben Stoegers podcasts with each candidate than make your decision. Personally, I don't think Manny's name/recognition qualifies him for the job. The current USPSA President is a big name shooter that didn't commit full-time to the position and as a result, many believe that the organization is in a downward spiral. Manny will not commit to doing this full-time. Research Jack Suber or Mike Foley.
 
sorry might be voting for mike, jack is a close second, he has got a ton of experience running non profit organizations in the US. I like mike but i like the business and government experience that jack has to offer.
 
Not sure why people are saying Manny will do a bad job? Is it because he's successful in everything else he does he'll fail here?

I believe Manny will do a good job. So, as at least two other candidates. But Manny didn't say he will drop everything he does to stay on top of the President role...
 
There were a lot of USPSA members that are not happy with Phil Strader. Being the USPSA president, working for Remington Arms and a top ranked competitive shooter, a lot of people felt he was not devoting enough of his time with USPSA. Might be these concerns that made him not run for re-election.

Is it time to select someone who is not a world class shooter to lead a world class shooting organization?
 
Phil and Manny are very different people with very different backgrounds.
Manny was a businessman befor his professional career and has made his business from shooting now.
He's not been an employee of anyone - nor will be - which allows him the flexibility to focus on commitments.
(Excellent example - becoming a professional Shooter)
If you were not happy with Phil, don't paint Manny with the same brush.

As an aside; Phil blew me away with his comments, opinions and speeches at the IPSC General Assemby last year. Mike Voight was an excellent orator and got the North American point of view across well to IPSC - his World Champion title got RDs to listen, but his points made people understand. Phil filled Mike's shoes well and backed me up on multiple occasions when we were trying to make points.

My hope is that whoever gets elected as USPSA President (and also USA Regional Director) takes an interest in IPSC as a whole and not just concern themselves with internal US issues. North America is a different creature than Europe for Action Shooting and one voice (Canada's) isn't enough. With the time Manny spends in Canada and the IPSC-focused matches that are run out of Universal (there is VERY little IPSC anywhere else in the US) I think he'll be very good at being concerned with IPSC's issues and as non-Americans, that should be important to us.

Finally, I doubt very much that any candidate is going to give up another source of income. The USPSA president salary isn't that good.

He shoots IPSC more than other candidates and has better insight.
Sean, out of curiosity, how much voice is given to USA and Canada?
We don't have a proportional representation and both countries have same
pull like a smaller regions.
Who knows, maybe that is why Americans don't bother with IPSC anymore,
where being the largest region they only have one vote.
If I am not accurate please correct me and explain so I will have a better understanding how IPSC works.

Each Region has the same voice in the General Assembly. Some regions tend to "go with the flow" and others will argue their case.
Some RDs are known to express their opinions a little more than others :evil: - in most cases - it's a good thing, in some; it's confusing but debate is good overall.

I feel that the USA based on it's sheer size of participation in the sport (which equates to experience) should be involved a lot within IPSC, (experience good!) but also based on their size it's easy for them to just say "screw it, we'll do our own thing." The latter is not good for the overall sport.

Let's take 3 gun for example - 4-5 years ago I asked the US President (who was heavily involved in 3 gun) if he'd like to take a run at the General Assembly jointly to try to bring 3gun to IPSC. His response was that they were happy with it in the US and he wasn't ready to fight for it at IPSC. That pretty much killed it. If the originators of the sport wouldn't argue for it; it wasn't going to go anywhere at the GA. While I've met all the US candidates except Jack and think they're all talented and decent people, I think that only Paul and Manny would give IPSC any real attention in this regard - Manny the most.

Jack and Mike have both stated that they will devote 100% of their time to the position.

I think that Jack and Mike are more concerned with the current internal issues of USPSA - lack of transparency/communication, suspect accounting practices, ranges not being paid, website/database being hacked, Area Directors quitting - than they are concerned with bringing 3gun to IPSC.

I have indeed talked with a number of representatives of these companies, and there are concerns that Production has become a division that cannot remain realistically competitive without a heavier pistol. With that said, some of these manufacturers have mentioned lessening their support of USPSA (not just at Nationals). Do I think that we would loose them completely? Probably not.
