Well, after watching and waiting for quite some time ibought a UTAS-15 from wolverine supplies. I bought it mostly as a fun gun with some bird/rabbit hunting in mind. Here is my review.
PROS
14 rounds mags
bull pup design
18.5 inches of barrel in less than 30 inches of gun
price! I think i payed 759 plus tax.
low recoil
low weight!
reliable
CONS
The 14 round mags would only hold 10 rounds
7.5 inch extra barrel would not accept choke tubes easily.
So let me explain, this is a fun gun that is easy to shoot, I was used to an 870 and i thought the spring assist would be hard to get used to but it wasent. I dident use sights as i just aimed down the rail. I hit what i was aiming at. I carried it for a few hours in the woods today and it dident feel heavy, even without a sling. this would make a great truck/atv gun for in the bush. I had no problems cycling the gun at all, I admit i only put 25 rounds through it today but more to come i promise.
The downside is i could only get 5 rounds of 2.75 shells in each mag, this was disappointing. When i got home i striped down the tube mags to see what it was binding on. It appears that the mag follower is binding the spring when compressed as it gets near the bottom of the mag preventing me from loading 7 rounds per mag. I will include pics at a later date. The other issue is that the 7.5 inch barrel extension i bought with it would not take a Beretta style choke tube easily. When looking down the barrel it looked dirty and on cleaning it, it was indeed dirty so i cleaned it. Tried the choke again and still no dice. So i tried a different choke and nothing. After some cleaning and chasing the threads with the proper tool the choke fit well.
So to sum it up, great gun for the price and very fun to shoot sure i had a few issues but nothing im worried about. I would recommend this gun to anyone looking for a bird/rabbit gun that hunts in bush like I do.
