although it has some bad reviews online , I figured I shoid test this baby myself. ordered it from Frontier firearms and received it this Monday . today, was the trial day at the range so here it goes :

so I brought the uts-15 for the first time today at the firing range.
1 out of 3 times this firearm has major stoppages even if being racked aggressively.
1- failures to feed
2- failures to eject
3-rounds being inserted backwards
4- failure to fire as a round is chambered
5- the pin holding the chamber cover flap gets loose and falls
6- some double feeds
7- and some times, the rounds would just not feed at all from either tubes !

as soon as I came home I cleaned it and tried it various ways with snap caps .
and the same
problems. occur

what I've notice is:

1- the selection of rounds between the 2 tubes is not consistent and fails often .
I've tried inserting the same amount of rounds per tubes , and then an odd number in one . stoppages still continue . tried to use the tube selector for manual selection and as soon as you do it will jam.

2- problems seem to come from the ejector, the elevator and the tube selector

called the guys at frontier firearms and they were very professional and nice, saying that they will order a new one to exchange the faulty one.

now I'm thinking this one was a second generation UTS-15 because:
1- picitanny railing is meteo not plastic like the first GEN.
2-tube selector is also metal , whereas the first GEN was plastic
3-it can't be a 3 Gen because the markings of the light/laser selector are all wrong . the off marking is in the middle with the 3 GEN .

another thing is that the serial number for the American models starts with US , whereas the Canadian imports starts with UT. so ours must come from the Turkish UTAS plant.

Magnesium top rail, magnesium monoblock and full length welds on the barrel (rather than spot welds) means at least half the shotgun is gen 3.
It could be a gen 2 refurbished to gen 3.

1: I'd take apart the monoblock and see if its aligned properly (there's a flat head screw with a spring washer and it can be moved forward and back).
2, 4: Make sure the nut that holds the barrel to the receiver is properly tightened. You have to rack the slide firmly but not over-aggressively (slamming it forward too hard if the barrel nut is not tight enough will lead to failure to fire and failure to eject).
3: What do you mean? You inserted a round backwards?
5: The pin is magnetic and its just a dust cover, it opens and remains open as soon as the bolt is moved. Unless you mean the mag doors.
6, 7 (and 1): I'm starting to suspect the monoblock is a bad one, some of the refurb units had bad monoblock with missing machining.

i didn't inserted rounds backwards, some just came in the chamber that way, and quite a few!
as for the dust cover, on AR's you'll find them with a spring so it doesn't come back bouncing on and off.
which is not the case here with the UTS, as soon as it's opened and you're firing, it keeps bouncing back and forth. the pin which holds it , kept sliding off .

Frontier Arms said they will replace it it with a new one son I'm waiting to get news from them

I took some pics for some information:
Generation 2 refurbished to 3:

The lower part is gen 2, you can see the difference on the laser/light switch. The barrel was changed, you can notice with the "-2" in the serial number (the old one needs to be destroyed since they can't share the same serial).
Generation 3:

The "F" on the safety switch is also bright red on the Gen 3 and more matte orange on the Gen 2.

This is a correct monoblock:

This is a monoblock with machining issue (the thickness at the top of the loading port):

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the first 2 digits (after the UT) are the year of production.

well well, the first picture is like mine ! and mine also has the -2 after the serial number.
ill make sure that frontier arms understands that I don't want one who's been refurbished or modified...
