what can you guys tel me about the UTG quad rails??? $89 for it comparied to $169 and up for other brands. all the ones I have been comparing have been none free float so it should be apples to apples. what is the difference compared to troy, knight, lmt, yhm. ? for $89 it even comes with covers.
is this one of that things that you get what you pay for???
thanks

If you are talking about the 416 rail that Questar used to sell, I have one of those.

Although it's cheap, it's quite decent for the money. Easy to install, and solid. I've had it on my AR for about 500 rounds with no issues to report. The rubber rail covers are fine as well.

Troy, Knight, GG&G, etc... are making stuff that is intended for military use and abuse. The difference is the grade of aluminum, finish and stuff like that. UTG started as an airsoft product, I believe (could be wrong). The local store has some of their stuff. IMO, they are fine products for the kind of use most of us will put them through.

thanks guys, any one else have any feed back???

I ordered a utg for my colt 9mm carbine, but I think I want a nice freefloating one for my stag. what do you guys think would be better. right now I am in between samson and troy 7in carbine.

I also have the utg rails on my AR. Found that they din't line up exactly with the rail on the top of my ar. I wanted to move my eotech up a bit farther,so it sat between the two rails, like on my baby ar. I couldn't because they were out of alignment. Phoned questar, they told me that this happens all the time and even more expensive rails have this issue. WTF?? It's a HQ rail, study too, so I just mounted my eotech where it used to be and use the rails for a foregrip.

I had a set of utg rails. Worked fine, everything fit as it should and pic accessories went on no problem. The bolts holding it together were somewhat flimsy, so obviously it wouldn't stand up to being beaten against a door frame or dropped out of a moving truck. If you aren't going to do that to your gun, don't worry about it.

What's there to trust?

How is a piece of aluminum (or whatever its made out of) going to threaten your life in any way (or put you in a harms way) unless you beat the snot out of it?

Like said... its a cheap alternative, but dont expect it to withstand constant abuse.

I have on on my LMT as I cant justify the price difference... I dont plan to put a light on... or a fore-grip... so for now it does its job.

Yes it is totally what you pay for... its made of some kind of a polymer (insert pot metal like)... unlike the more expensive ones made of actual steel/aluminum.

If you want to go cheap than go for it... if you want to have a 'brand name' than do that... just dont expect for this rail not to brake if you constantly play war hero with it. (as in abuse the crap out of your rifle)

the AR being restricted how would you abuse it enough or beat the crap out of it enough for it to brake ?
your fine with the UTG rails

i don't know for you guys but i take care of my guns, clean them after each range session and have a pelican case for every of them to transport them
i can't see how you could abuse a restircted that much
(unless you're shooting thousands of rounds a week, but in that case it would be normal wear and itwould probably be the mechanism that would brake not the quad rail)

If i was going to war with my AR then I would spare no expense...but lets be honest here...how many of us are going to see any combat with our AR's. We're just a bunch of over grown kids who still like to play GI Joe. Get the UTG rail...I am...and I'm pretty sure it will survive the horrors of a weekend trip to the range!?!?
