After watching this "amazing" shotgun how can anyone justify $1k-1500+ for this piece of junk? I don't understand how utas still has any customers left.

I went into the local shop recently and all the salesmen told me was that it performed flawlessly and that he would recommend it to everyone, especially now that the later gens had 'fixed' all the problems, and then I did the research...

I believe Wolverine had taken it upon themselves to send a UTS across Canada to several CGN members for testing.

THey claimed all the BS on the internet was not true, and had confidence enough to prove it.

Not sure what happened in that thread, but now I am interested to find out.

One of the biggest problems with failure to feed/failure to fire on these is/was folks not tightening the front barrel nut down AS TIGHT as they can possibly get it. If you just thumb tighten it like your old Winchester or 870, the barrel and chamber are not seated as far back as they should be and this can cause the feeding and firing issues. I have taken customers guns with them present, tightened this nut down, handed them the shotgun and watched them look surprised as the shotgun functions properly. There have also been issues with the Winchester target ammo, not only in the UTS but in other shotguns as well. The upgraded monoblock systems on the shotguns have also made a big difference on the older guns.

One more thing to remember with these shotguns. DON"T PAMPER THEM! They need to be used forcefully. Getting used to the function of this shotgun and using it differently from your regular style pump is important.

It seems an awful lot of shotgun issues occur when using Win White Box target loads - this ammo is simply not very good for anything beyond plinking. It reminds me of the 40 grain varmint 223 they used to sell cheap, it worked fine in bolt guns, but guys would try to use it in AR's and have problems. Simply put, if you're going to use a shotgun for SHTF, stock up on something other than WWB, you can't bet your life on it, in anything other than a single, or double.

both of those reviews look like they're American so they probably have the American made version. The ones in Canada are made in Turkey if memory serves.

I've seen lots of positive reviews from people up here on it, every product, no matter how good will still have the odd unit that fails or has problems, you never know when you have someone on the production line who's having a bad day, going through a divorce, or just looking forward to clocking out on a Friday before a long weekend. That's why I always run the date codes on the cars I'm looking at buying to make sure they're not made on a Friday or near a long weekend :)

I've heard the second generation ones are much better but for me I'll stick to my KSG :)
One of my buddies just got a UTS so hopefully I'll get to try one soon.
