UTS-15 Shotgun

UTS-15 Delivery has been delayed 2 weeks until Sept. 15th.

The laser/light units were not as waterproof as the factory would have liked in submersion testing; and they were re-designed and re-manufactured. This additional work has pushed the delivery date back. We had the option of having these shipped without the laser/light units (with the new units to arrive later); but made the decision to have completed UTS-15 shotguns delivered with only a few weeks delay.

too big, too heavy, looks like it was a science project or some body at a gun shop built it,,, i would not pay a cent for that. An 1897 norinco shotgun would blow this boat anchor out of the water for speed and handling...just because it looks different it sure dose not warrent big bucks, just look at the video, giant 12 gauge hand gun with a too short stock, you need monkey arms too rack it.

The UTS-15 is 334g lighter than the Norinco 1897.

An 1897 Norinco is slow to load and holds only 5+1 cartridges. UTS-15 holds 14+1 cartridges.

Doesn't look too awkward to handle to me...

Bad form to go in to a dealers forum and sh!t on their product, especially when they go through the hassle and cash outlay to import it.

Don't want to buy it? Don't.
Want to crap on it? Start a thread elsewhere.

Exactly. I thought it was a great thing that they are doing something different.. and hopefully will continue to do so.

Completely agree! These guys went through alot of trouble and expense to be able to offer these to us and if you don't like something, don't buy it. Opinions and experience (price, value, use) are always welcome, but keep it on topic and polite. I think it's a great addition to a growing list of possible buys for us to choose from. My two cents.

Would it really be CGN though without ignorant a$$holes giving their baseless negative opinions on everything?

Also, I dig the UTS-15 but with all those cool new firearms from Tactical Imports, cash will be running short. :D

And you were so well in the last 2 years as a CGN member, until you open your mouth. :feedTroll:

I like that it has slots cut into the side so you know how many rounds you have left in the tube. But this weapon platform would be more effective if it were self loading (semi-auto). You don't need to hold a large number of rounds in the weapon, you just need good muscle memory and dexterity. A true practitioner with any time of weapon platform is leathal. Just because this weapon looks like it is leathal, it still needs to be operated by human hands. It would be interesting to found out if this weapon will have any malfunctions, and how or what they will be. Remember keep your weapons simple, interchangable with ammo, and easy to remedy malfunctions with easy IA's. So that it is up and running when you need it. Bottom line is if I had to use this type of shotgun in any senario, I would carry a back up pistol grip Remington 870 pump. Like this one:

Odd choice of backups. I would carry a small handgun, myself. In a holster so it would not interfere with the primary weapon. :nest:

How did I miss this thread until now? Comparing this to the KSG seems logical, so I am suprised nobody has compared them beyond which one they want more.

Here is what I don't like about the UTS-15 compared to the KSG
The UTS-15 is slightly heavier than the KSG - roughly 137 grams according to the manufacturers, but with both shotguns in the 7 lbs range I see no reason to argue over 137 grams.

The UTS-15 is roughly 43mm (1.7") longer than the KSG - noticeable but not a night/day difference. Removing the flash supressor might shorten things up a bit.

The UTS-15 is taller as well because the pump does not wrap around the mag tubes like the KSG.

The UTS-15 is not ambidextrous at all while the KSG is fully ambidextrous. With semi-autos you would eat the empties if you fired from the oposite side the firearm is set up for; with a pump you could at least fire one round from the opposite side, but you would need to swith sides before cycling the action.

Loading: Top loading might be alright, but I do not like the idea of first lifting up a flap then shutting it again afterwards. I think the KSG wins here too.

Price: The exact KSG price is not yet known, but I am guessing it will be 40% less than the UTS-15.

Here is what I do like about the UTS-15 as compared to the KSG
The ability to go through 15 uninterupted rounds and alternate back and forth between magazines is nice. The KSG allows you to store a different type of ammo in each tube so that you can switch between them whenever you want, but I am not sure how useful this feature would really be.

Safties are an area I am neutral on between the two models: I guess this is personal preference - cross bolt for the KSG vs. non-ambidextrous AR style for the UTS-15. I would have prefered both models to be designed with an ambidextrous AR style safety like the RFB...

im sorry it was only my opinion, i can tell a lot of you know very little about using a firearm but are more into looking at firearms.

You ever try to shoot something on the move with a hand gun? I carry my 870 on my back in an eberlestock gunslinger II. Never gets in the way of my primary M40-A1 clone.
