UTS-15 Shotgun

How did I miss this thread until now? Comparing this to the KSG seems logical, so I am suprised nobody has compared them beyond which one they want more.

Here is what I don't like about the UTS-15 compared to the KSG
The UTS-15 is slightly heavier than the KSG - roughly 137 grams according to the manufacturers, but with both shotguns in the 7 lbs range I see no reason to argue over 137 grams.

The UTS-15 is roughly 43mm (1.7") longer than the KSG - noticeable but not a night/day difference. Removing the flash supressor might shorten things up a bit.

The UTS-15 is taller as well because the pump does not wrap around the mag tubes like the KSG.

The UTS-15 is not ambidextrous at all while the KSG is fully ambidextrous. With semi-autos you would eat the empties if you fired from the oposite side the firearm is set up for; with a pump you could at least fire one round from the opposite side, but you would need to swith sides before cycling the action.

Loading: Top loading might be alright, but I do not like the idea of first lifting up a flap then shutting it again afterwards. I think the KSG wins here too.

Price: The exact KSG price is not yet known, but I am guessing it will be 40% less than the UTS-15.

Here is what I do like about the UTS-15 as compared to the KSG
The ability to go through 15 uninterupted rounds and alternate back and forth between magazines is nice. The KSG allows you to store a different type of ammo in each tube so that you can switch between them whenever you want, but I am not sure how useful this feature would really be.

Safties are an area I am neutral on between the two models: I guess this is personal preference - cross bolt for the KSG vs. non-ambidextrous AR style for the UTS-15. I would have prefered both models to be designed with an ambidextrous AR style safety like the RFB...

Kel-Tec KSG also can't fire 3" and 2.5" shells apparently.

Also UTS-15 without strike bezel, laser/light combo + iron sights is only 2.8kg

So what's the status. When will they be sent to dealers? Have you received them?
Last I heard the guns were being shipped to Canada on sep. 15 .. How did that go ?

Sorry guys, the shipment got pushed back again! These were booked and ready to leave on the 26th but there was some issues with the exporting cargo company. Our UTAS contact was also away all last week. Once we have more info we will update. We are pushing to have these shipped here asap; it's not fair to you guys!

Sorry for the delays! :(

The word from UTAS:

"I apologize for delay. I have got the email from our logistic company. From Monday I am trying to solve this problem. The problem is that we as a company need to certify UTS15 from Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey for an international sales. After getting the permit we can ship the guns. I already prepare all the documents I sent it to Ankara. It will take a time but we will get this permit. The reason is that UTS15 is a not regular smoothbore 12 gage shotgun. I will be able to inform you the exact day of shipment on Friday this week or Monday next week."

Not a big deal... we waited so long, we can wait few more weeks.. i just hope to have it by mid November, so i can sight it in and get use to it by the time hunting season starts.. it would be my bear defense gun :)

Once all the ducks are in a row will this be a regularly stocked item?

Off and on, but mostly in stock.

That handle looks like an AR handle. Can it be swapped out for aftermarket AR handles?

We believe so but will reserve the final answer until these are in our hands.

When do i have to place an order, do you expect them before 2012... JP.

If interested you can flip us an email/pm and we'll let you know as soon as they come in. Most definately before 2012.

Any idea on the date yet?

Hello Tactical Imports,

Are all your level 2 UTS-15 shotguns all pre-sold or can I still preorder on for your shipment coming in or around the 24th as you stated? I am interested.
