V max 95 gr .264 load data

Hey,

Anybody know a good place to find load data for this bullet? or better yet, anyone have any experience using them? bought them the other day, but haven't been able to find data for it.

I shoot an old Carl Gustaf swede. M96.

I found an "unverified" load for the 95 gr V-Max bullet in www.reloadersnest.com.

41.5 grs Hodgdon Varget.

I would approach this with caution as Hodgdon (www.hodgdon.com) lists a Max load of 40 grs of Varget with an 85 gr bullet.

H380 and IMR 4064 should get you to 3200 fps or so. I'd reccomend starting at 40.0 gr for 4064 and 42.0 for H380 and working up. I use both of these in my scoped M96. Also, seat your bullets as far out as you can to minimize bullet jump to the rifling - those M96's have LONG throats. Some people report their swedes can't shoot short bullets well at all, but mine is pretty accurate with them.

Ran Varget through quickload and I get the following

6.5x55 Swedish (Assuming this is the cartridge you are using)
COL 2.955 (Guessed at this COL as SAAMI is 3.150)
41.5gr Varget
95gr V-Max
Pressure - 43,750 psi at 3115 fps(Showing well below max pressure for this cartridge but possibly not your particular action)
45grs shows just short of max pressure at 54,778 psi and 3341 fps

YMMV
