I just purchased the V3 Tac Bolt Release (from Neit Arms) for my vz58, but I am having some technical difficulties with it.

It takes alot of strength to push down and release the bolt carrier, it is not possible to push down on it with one finger. It takes alot of force.

Though, it is loose fitting ( which seems normal ), it is not tight or jammed. Just hard to use / unusable with one finger.

What should / can I do ?

When you have a loaded mag in the gun it will be easy to operate because you aren't pushing down the mag follower as well. Try releasing the bolt with the mag out. That is basically how it will feel when you have a loaded mag in.

It is easier to push down without a mag, but it is still not possible with one finger, you need to use the thumb. BUT when you have the magazine in, it is next to impossible unless you use all your strength.

Are you applying pressure along the whole lever or just the rear portion?

I'm not too sure what you mean.

Is your finger covering the whole lever, or just your finger tip at the rear?

It needs to be pushed straight down at the hold-open pin. If you only press it at the rear there's side force being exerted on the pin, not just downwards force.

Im using my whole finger, not just the tip, AND im pushing straight down, not sideways or anything.
Can't seem to understand why it requires an unusual amount of force :(

Sh*t man, thats EXACTLY the problem. WTF is up with that ??
( Have you found a solution to it by any chance ? )

I couldn't hear you talk in the second video, maybe you mentioned this, but, WERE did you get those other gizmos from ??

Wasn't allowed to talk. The manufactor asked me to remove the audio. You can purchase the from a number of stores such as Reliable Gun Wanstalls and a few other outlets that I froget there names. Un-fortunitly for me there was no fix but Maybe the guy's at NEA might chime in and be able to help ya out.

I installed mine on Weds, had the same issue - could get it to drop if I REEFED on it. As Giant says, once I got it to the range and had a loaded mag in, it was an EASY one finger push, every time *with a loaded mag*. So, non-issue far as I'm concerned. Seriously, take it to the range before you give up on it.

You know that's not an NEA part, right?

It's from Neit Arms.

If you chamfer the bottom inside part of the bolt release it shouldn't hang up on the receiver lip.

Yup, i'll definitely give it a shot at the range before I give up on it.

My bad.
f:P:
I keep on getting NEIT & NEA mixed up sorry.
I also tried to do that and it still didn't work for me Stevo but once I did that they said it voided any possibility for a return.

... Try this.

Take it to the range and shoot it. Because of the material and design, it is quite sharp on the carrier edge. It has a short (very) break in period to smooth everything up, you have to shoot it to break it in, playing with it inside will not break it in.

Shoot it, if it doesn't work we'll make it right. But we've had no issues reported from people that are 'using' it. I can release my bolt on mine even with a broken fingertip (did yesterday). Let me know if you have any problems. I have more than a few hundred of these out there and no one has contacted us about not being able to actuate it on parts that have been broken in. The reason that they're tight at installation is because the depression point on the base where it contacts the follower has been extended on this version. This was done to allow users with old or weak mags to still function the bolt hold open.. But this also means that it grabs more of the carrier on rifles with new, or little used magazines. By shooting it, the TBR will mate better to your specific carrier, and the fit will improve quickly.

The only complaint we see regularly is that people sitting on the couch can't release the carrier on an empty mag.. nope, you can't. That little lever is pushing down on a 30rnd spring and the binding force of the carrier combined. What it will do is slam forward on a full mag in a hurry.

But quick e-mail to us probably would have taken care of this.. Taking your complaints to a public forum off the hop without so much as a e-mail or call puts a warm & fuzzy in my cockles and makes me appreciate all the hard work that's involved in designing a product and bringing it to market.

As well, if there's an issue with our parts and you don't let us know how do we make an improvement?

...all you have to do.

We have a lifetime warranty on all of our parts, a quick call or email can do a lot. As long as you contact us and not take our pieces to a grinder, file, torch, etc.. we will replace any part for life. But if you're fancy yourself a home gunsmith and start changing the specs of the part and it doesn't work.. then there's nothing we can do about that. yep.. probably won't work after grinding it up.

Calling first and explaining the problem will get a quick response, some helpful advice and if need be a replacement or a refund.

Who has the best price on the pieces you have satain? So far Canadaammo has the cheapest at $90.
Don't know as these were given to me as part of a deal to test out and to shoot a video on how to install them. I do know that the mag release and bolt realease are sold as a pair hence why it costs so much. Also I only know of a few store's that sell these. Sorry for not being any more helpful as it's not my product. Hopefully the manufactor chimes in and can give you more detail.
Also anyone thinking about moding them PLEASE call Dave @ NEIT ARMS as he will make it right for ya. Hence why they don't come with sanding paper no more because these guy's herd us complane and re-made it.

The only reason I mentioned chamfering the bottom inside edge was because I did the same thing with one of the pre-production NEA ambi selectors that Charles Martel produced. I probably made it necessary by bending the selector shaft then straightening it.

Sometimes I think I need a smaller hammer.

... If anyone has any suggestions for improvements on any of our parts please let us know. If there's something that can be done to improve a design we obviously want to know about it.

I have another run of TBR's going on the machines and now's the time. We will be making a slight change to the placement of the pad to help with actuation. Every little bit helps.
