Vacuum sealing ammo

Picked me up a Vacuum bag sealer, Started bagging my loose .223 ammo (And dug out my 5.56 Bandoleer kits (4 pocket W/ 12 stripper clips and loader) and packed up my new cardboard's with 7.62x39 German hollow points

Yep, in high humidity areas, you still need metal to keep water vapour out. All plastics are water vapour permeable, slowly but they still let water molecules through over time.

But they look real prudy in those bags . Have done some myself......

I keep all my ammo in 50cal cans with some silica gel. Easy to access and stays dry.

Ive thought about vacuum sealing ammo, but decided to keep it all high and dry in a cool place instead.

I recently purchased some .284 Win bullets on the EE, that were made in the 1960's.. I dont know how they were kept for the long run.. but they are in original boxes which are still in excellent shape, as is the ammo.

Anyways, I fired some of the 40 plus year old ammo in 150 grain and they shot like they were made yesterday and very accurate I might add.

If its kept dry and at an even temp... Longer then you will ever need it to.

I think the x39 chz surplus will rust itself to death from the inside out tho...they must make the cases out of recycled Lada's.

i bought surplus ammo on the EE and the fella had pack the ammo in large sealed cans. very smart idea. he must have done a lot of canning as well to have the gear to do it.

Ive got access to a canning facility (dry pack) but not sure if they would allow me to can some ammo LOL BUT they do have a machine they loan out , hmmm that's got me thinking now hehehehe .22 packed in #10 cans or 12 gauge or some other caliber that isn't surplus packed in spam cans.

but for this stuff I packed up, just thought id try it along with some medical kits, and survival kits for long term storage.

they were fair sized cans, probably foot tall by 8 inches diameter. if a guy was really creative, they'd print up a cool label, maybe zombie ammo themed.

Well made ammo will keep almost indefinitely if it is kept dry and at a reasonably cool CONSTANT temperature. It is repeated hot cold cycles that causes ammo to deteriorate quickly.
