1,250 Euro... that's close to $1,700 CDN, add a few hundreds in paperwork fees. Another few $ for shipping... and you are getting pretty close to the $2,500 being asked on the EE

On Canadian side paperwork is free...Germany don't know, but you always can phone owner I bet he/she speaks English. Airfreight around $6.00 per kilogram + small fees. Customs clearance should be free as it's used rifle, bonded warehouse may impose small charges if they store it for you more than 5 days. If you do it on your own it's time consuming, if you go through business importer it will cost you few hundreds…
That's a Valmet Petra.
Sorry but used or not customs clearance will not be free. It is a "new import" and will be subject to taxes. In this case the Valmet is made in Finland which is a MFN so duty will be 0%. Taxes will be dependent on what province.. but assuming Bantario the full HST will apply after conversion to CDN $ at the time Canada customs deals with it (not whatever rate was in effect at the time or purchase)
Customs clearance fees will vary depending on the carrier and/or the customs clearance broker used. (UPS for example usually charges $50 for that). etc etc....
As for actual shipping costs? I have no idea.. but I have heard shipping a gun from Europe to Canada can be quite pricey.
Anyone here have actual experience with such costs?
Just got my two commercial shipments. Country of origin Russia. Shipped by Lufthansa through Frankfurt Germany. paid around $6 per kilo.
Goods can be cleared by importer without customs broker.
hah, just got a monthly flyer by e-mail from Milarm store in Edmonton. One of their offer:
"Valmet M-78 Hunter - WAS $6000.00 REDUCED to $5400.00"
Also, astor-arms has one for $4250... or thereabouts, should still be there for a while.
Milarms sent me some pics, sweet looking rifle, looks totally prohibited but condition seems to be minty.
