How much did it cost to put the thing together and where do you get parts kits? Any 'gunsmithing' involved?

I'm trying to get there Sask..I'm trying
and I can take my Valmet Hunter/Galil out shooting still ..so there
and to the few ppl that asked if I made the receiver NO thats ILLEGAL.
if you want what I have..find a crappy ol Valmet 223 Receiver,strip it to the bare bones..cut the receiver behind the mag well..reweld it as the trunnions on the 74's are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy different then the M78's,make jig,reweld it,get it refinished find a 74 kit and put it together..easy as pie plus alot more that had to be reworked on this puppy

nice work...its a pity we have to go through such extreme measures but you made due with what you had and did a nice job at that. Re-sale value will probably reflect its rarity as it, being the only proper restricted AK in Canada, makes it a bit more desirable then your average AK or VZ so whatever you put in was probably worth it!
and just think, the original appeal of the AK was that they were cheap and easy to build. I take it this is the "liberalized" AK - a whole lot of work and a ton of money. Good stuff all the same - you can tell them to kiss your butt(stock)

Its definately worth the effort of having a military style AK instead of the hunting look that really doesnt suit it. Make sure to get some pics or videos if possible next time you take that beauty to the range!
I bet there are plenty of people willing to go through all the steps to get one, if you ever get a chance, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated if you made a write up on making one of these!
This really proves how stupid Canadian gun laws. This is a restricted firearm (and only by barrel length), but any other AK variant, including AK-74 style variants that are almost identical are prohibs...
