I've got a chance to buy some home converted G3 magazines in 308 that apparently fit and feed perfectly in a Valmet. Seller's not sure what to ask for them, and I don't want to rip him off, so what would a reasonable price be for converted mags? I know factory produced flat side mags go for somewhere around $250-$300 each, but guessing these will be in the $150-$200 range? They've been described as ground down then hot blued, and from seeing his previous work I suspect they're nicely done conversions.

Seeing as Valmet mags never come up for sale I guess I need to check what CGN has to say on the matter.

If they are G3 mags and are in their stock form, they won't fit a Valmet M78.

They need to be modified. I bought several for $10 a mag in their G3 form. Slowly modifying them to fit my Valmet. It requires milling down the sides of the mag, and adding a front and rear catch to lock into the AK style Valmet. Not a small modification, takes time to do it right.

If you are looking to buy them, test them first. If you think his work is worth and extra $140 to $190 per mag then that is up to you.

Fair enough - apparently they've been run in an M78, so whatever he has done they apparently work. I know he ground them, likely spot welded tabs on but don't remember him mentioning it. Appreciate the assessment!

Here ya go. G3 unmodified on the left, Valmet on the right. Valmet actually did this to several G3 mags themselves to get 308 mags for the M78.

You can see on the mag on the right where the sides of the G3 mags have been milled down, and the front and rear latches added.
