Not really sure.
Hey everyone, I'm just curious along with a few of my buddies about the amount you would have to fork over for a M78 or hunter.
I realise they are rare as hens teeth, and everybody who owns one probably makes love to it but anyhow, Yea! what kinda price range?.
4 - 5,000 perhaps?.
Thanks guys.

Mark at Questar told me the ATF was declining export permits for Valmet Hunter's and M78's. I bought a brand new, in original box, unfired for 3,650.00. Things might have changed though - so ask Mark. You never know!

Well i dont actually make love to mine, but I do enjoy it.
I'm not ready to part with it just yet, but as the prices continue to climb i might let it go. I did sell my .223 one a few months ago, now I just have the big .308 left.
Hmmm. $4000, $5000. Kind of tempting. Got me thinking.

Haha.. yea I'm sorry just a little sick humor I guess.
Well If I had 4-5 gran to spend right now I would be trying my darndest to buy one.
Some day soon I'm hopeing. It is my dream gun basicaly.

If you look in the states you can get a Hunter with an extra mag(s) for <1000 then about 500 to import it, the M78s you will drop 2000 and it should have a few extra mags (also about 500 to import)

problem is that the states are not allowing anymore to leave.... it is fine here in Canada but in the states they are having a problem with it.

find a european seller and you are fine...

Hence why prices are going up on these....

There is a modified Valmet hunter in the exchange thats a dead ringer for a galil. Too rich for my blood though, maybe if it was 1000 less.

I never have any money when all the good toys come up for sale :bangHead: Curse that gunplumberr.
Yea I feel your pain. I just ended up buying a new bike so that chewed up alot of money, but now I'm sorta regretting it.
That would make a beautiful Galil with a little more work.

Anyway everyone, I'm new to the gun buisness and have only been collecting for 2 years.
The reason I was asking so high about the Valmets is that I figured it would probably be a good 4 grand for an M78, not necessarily the hunter.
I heard that the M78's are worth alot more when they are left unmodified.

On to a bit off topic, what does everyone think of the Vz 858's?. Are they reliable?, how are they accuracy wise, better then a Yugo sks for example?.
Reason I'm wondering is I saw an Ad in EE of someone wanting to trade a lightly used one for a Mini14.
I'm thinking about it but I just love my mini so much, and its still in mint condition.
So I'm just trying to weigh both ends of the scale here.

Depends... I was gonna convert a Valmet Hunter into an M76 but the cost was prohibative. Plus extra parts and such.... no mags....

The CZ-858 is not an AK .... it is a nice shooter and if you want a PRK type gun it is the perfect one for you. Trick it up and enjoy..... there are parts and mags for it.

CZ858 vs. Mini-14..... different bullets & different looks both Semi but depends on what you are purchasing it for..... I would say that accuracy is gonna be similar.... (depends on what you shoot) maybe more options for the Mini.... but try to get mini-14 mags.... and if no one has a shipment of 858 parts then you are in the same boat for both guns.....

Lets face it... neither are sniper rifles... both will fire reasonably accurate out to 100 and probably not badly at 200.... .30 vs .223what do you need.....

are you mounting optics? if it is a scope... the Mini might be better.. if it is a red dot/holo... there are rails for the CZ now.....

my 2c and I have both rifles.... neither of em have been bubba'd...
