original scopes are uber expensive. the hunters that have a milled reciver have a funny way of mounting the reciever cover. a cheap aftermarket AK cover may be made to work. other than a cool rifle, they are not the best things to hunt with, although they are dam fun to shoot.
what caliber is it BTW? does he wanna sell it?

Sorry,got it wrong,it's an M-78 in 308 not a Hunter.Milled receiver has no obvious attachment points like the Hunter.No its not for sale.Ardent,this scope mount you have,is it the type that attaches to the side with 2 screws?or the dust cover replacement.

You are in the same quandry as I am. The best scope mounts are going to require the reciever being drilled for an AK side mount, but with a 3000 dollar rifle who wants to do that? The B-Square mount works only on the stamped reciever AK's, it is too tight and causes jamming when installed on the milled reciever M78. I am going to try and find a action cover mount and hope that it is tight enough to not affect the zero on the scope.
WIth the Milled receivers yo ahve 2 options
1-DRILL into it and destroy the $3000 dollar investment....
2-GET that mount/ring combo and you are in luck... it is not as good as the drill/mount....

IF you have a Hunter and want to mount something other than a 1' tube get this:

Gives you a rail on top of the cover. Lets you mount anything you want to. I just ordered one from Wolverine. When it arrives I'll let you know how well it works.
