valtro mag shotguns any good?

I had one for quite a few years, got one when they first showed up on the market from John at Wolverine. I put a pile of rounds through mine and it never failed to function. It was a grew little shotgun. I got rid of it about 6 years ago or so and have regretted it ever since. Mags are hard to come by and very expensive. Can't say how they compare to the DA's as I haven't owned one of those.

I'd sooner invest in an Italian made shotgun than one made in China.

Magazine availability and prices are not what I'd be concerned with if the gun functioned reliably with them. The Valtro apparently does. You only cry once with expensive mags that work. Mags that don't function make you cry every time you have an issue. The magazine is the heart of any firearm.

The only thing I found with box magazine shotguns is that the mags can be a bit tricky to insert and lock in under duress.

I had a 14" and it was of a better quality and cycled much nicer than the 4 mag fed grizzlies I've had. I know there are 2 other type mag fed shotguns out there too, a Russian 18.5" hunting type and I think it was an MP3 or something like that, also Italian, I forget the maker. The Valtro was a nice gun but the fit and finish still not as nice as a Fabarm or Benelli. Aftermarket was very little a few years back and mags scarce. I don't like fixed pistol grip stocks and I tried to locate the PM-5 folder but was unable to. I think there was an adapter made for Knoxx Stocks, that is a nice combination. The ported barrel was also very dirty but overall as a mag fed design it is still in my opinion quality wise the best that's been here.

Very reliable feeding from the mag. I find it a little too long with the factory fixed stock for me. Knoxx doesn't make a retractable stock for the Valtro. But you can modify the one made for Rem to fit.
I like mine.

the Valtro that I bought back in the 90's didn't have a pistol grip, just a conventional stock, I really liked it. Only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't top it up while running a course, I had to either wait till the mag was empty and change it or drop a mag with one or two rounds still in it to get the capacity I needed for the next stage. All in all though it took a lot of abuse, and never let me down.

Ive got a stock for one....

If any one needs one.... Its a full stock with the pistol grip.... dug it up on the weekend. Got it in for a customer years ago and never saw him again. I cant even remember what I paid for it.

If anyone needs one... throw me an offer.

Gord.
