I am thinking of buying one - so two questions:
1) Who sells them?
2) Are extra mag's available (and at what price)?

Anyone got any opinions on these shotguns?
Thanks guys
Martin

I have to be straight up here Martin.

One word describes it.

Crap.

Save your money. You'll thank me if you ever have the chance to fire one.

Just plain old junk.

I know they look cool, but,

You are better off without one.

I have to disagree. I had one with two mags and a 14" barrel. It was very solid, chromed barrel and built like a tank. I sold it because I have been an 870 user for too long and just couldn't get used to using a different shotgun. If you want one they are expensive though. Epps said no to ever getting more mags, and Wanstalls said they might be able to find some but it would take a long time. The last mags that I saw for sale were around $100.00 each. Most other reviews I have seen have been positive, the only issue is that the forend is farther forward than most other pump guns which is uncomfortable for some people.

Here is a link to a thread that I posted in when I was selling my Valtro. There are some very positive reviews in there.

I'm with Canadiangunuser on this one - I have loved the two Valtros that I've owned, and just recently re-acquired one, mainly on sentimental and impulse-purchase reasons . They're fun to shoot, super reliable and aside from the mag availability issue, there's no denying the cool factor :).

And if you're interested, I'm selling mine  - had totally forgotten why I'd sold the previous two - the long reach for the forearm is right at the limit of my arm. The link to the ad is here:

italians make the best shotties in the world

Valtro rules in shotgun matches.
The mag change feature cuts times in half over a tube fed - leaving lots of time to shoot and still beat the fastest tube gun -

another yes

i have one and everyone i know that owns one says the same thing - great shotgun ... smooth, reliable, and fast....yes they are expensive and yes mags are hard to find but considering its made by benellli you wont find better for all you get. As for mags - Valtro USA but you need a friend in the USA to order them for you - not to friendly to us canadians - long story

I love my Valtro. Well over 2000 rounds and not a single jam (14" ported barrel). A shooting buddy of mine however had one that had some feed problems.

You can't beat the reload times of a Valtro in a shotgun match.

Every brand of gun pumps out the occasional lemmon.

I have an S&W M&P that is a complete hunk of junk. (braced shooting gets 6" groups at 10 yards).

Also, I have seen 2 STIs blow up over the past couple of years too. The bushing blew out of the end of the pistol cracking the slide. The other blew up by the hammer, the shooter was very lucky he didn't lose a couple of fingers. Around here, STIs are (were) considered the cadillac of 1911 competition guns.

I know that Del Selin (CGN Dealer) has an 18" in stock. No spare mags though. (I've got dibs on the mags.):D Mags are about $100 each.

My Valtro came with the 14" barrel. I found The action much smoother than my 870 but the butt stock was a bit long for me and had a smith take out an inch and a half off. Reloading with a box mag, naturally beats feeding a tube I also had heard taht the Valtro has some corrosion resistant coating.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

6 years ago we couldn't give Valtro's away from the wifes store.

They all came back with angry owners wanting them fixed or replaced.

Did something change??

Am I missing out on a good thing here??

Where did 6 years go??

Lot's of brand loyal owners here and now you have stirred up my curiosity.

Well thanks for the input guys. Still undecided though.
Several reasons:
1) What is the point in having chokes if NO ONE sells them?
2) What is the point in having a mag fed gun if NO ONE sells mags either?
I would think that the supplier would be able to offer extra chokes and mags....what's up with that?
I am thinking there must be more to this than meets the eye. Every other gun out there the suppliers sell accessories.

Thoughts?
Marty

I tried to find out about accessories a while ago. The one's for sale on gunbroker and other places say "not imported anymore", so my guess is that they aren't that popular- plus the U.S. has much tighter laws on short barreled shotguns than we do (hooray for Canada) so they are worth more, making them less common. With all of that in mind, it makes more sense that there are few accessories up here.
