Trying to nail down value on a Winchester 1894 in 30 WCF.It has a 22 inch round barrel and full length tube mag. Also has tang sight but seems to be not original but is very old by look of the patina. The barrel is nice and bright with lots of life in it.Action is very tight and locks up nice as well. The bluing is about 30%.Wood is in good shape as well.It was made in 1911.No fancy woods or engravings.Sorry no pics just ball park based on description. Thanks to all that reply

Hard to say without pics. A 22 inch barrel is non standard. Maybe a cut down rifle or maybe a special order short rifle. The standard forend is 9 3/8 inches long but many short rifles had an 8 3/8 inch long forearm to maintain proportion. Check that out first but if the forearm is standard length don't despair, many short rifles had standard length forends as well. The end of the barrel should be flat, no crown and the center of the front sight dovetail should measure one inch from the face of the muzzle. If it is a short rifle it should fetch $1500 even in 30% condition especially if the bore is good. You don't mention if it has the crescent rifle butt or a flat shotgun butt either. Shotgun butt was special order as well. Short rifles are not that common but a closer examination would be required to determine authenticity. My 2 cents.

thanks for the info.will check it out some more, they made so many different types of 94s from the custom shop or small runs really hard to find info about it

Very difficult to price without pics on this rifle if its of standard configuration not likely the 22'' bbl is original that would only appear on higher grade guns likely a bbl that has been cut do to bulged bbl or some such problem.

Most short rifles I have seen were basically standard rifles, no deluxe wood, checkering, pistol grips or engaving. If it has a short forend I would say it is genuine, very hard to fake that.
