Hey guys my dad bought a Colt AR15 A2 HBAR Sporter so I thought I'd help him out and find out what she's worth without the scope? It's in darn good condition but has definitely had some rounds fired through it. He got it off a friend and hasn't even taken it to the range yet so I think he plans on selling it to pay for a new project.

I couldn't say if it's DPMS or not, but it looks like the entire upper has been replaced. That would originally have been a 20" barrel AR15A2 clone with fixed carry handle.

The way it is now? Maybe $1000.00

And even that might be tough. For that much, you can get in to NEA AR's, and for a little more, a Stag. The fixed A2 stock and carbine upper is also a bit of an awkward mix. Best bet would be to part it out (upper for $600 and lower for $400), IMHO at least.

Actually, as an afterthought, the lower is probably a large pin lower, so parting it out could be tough too...

Upper has definitely been changed. What the upper is worth would depend if it is a small hole or large hole upper. 400.00 for an older large hole lower seems a little steep to me, but you never know. If I were selling it myself I would expect to get about 800.00 for the complete rifle without the optic. Edited to add: Looking at it close, it definitely looks like it is a small hole upper with the offset front pin, this means that the upper would fit a wider variety of lowers than if it was a large hole upper. Although a large hole flat top upper would probably sell OK too. 2 sides to every story.

Yah, probably. I wrote that without thinking whether it was large hole or small hole.

Well I gotta admit I'm pretty disappointed at the price but eh thanks for the responses... I had no clue the upper was changed as I don't have a whole lot of experience with the ARs, but hopefully I can squeeze a g out of the complete rifle. It's gotta Elcan scope too that I'm not sure of the price... any input on that would be appreciated as well.

If it's a commercial elcan with intact serials and no issues, around $450-500 or so. If not, then around $300 is what they go for on the EE.
