Ok so I have a chance to get a Valmet M78 in 7.62x51 Im just wondering about it value. I know its a rare rifle and they are expensive. Now I can't go into detail about its condition for I have not seen it yet. Id be happy if some one could give me an idea on a scale of 1-10. 1 being a paper weight, 10 being mint condition and a price point they would be willing to pay at say.... 1,5, and 10. That way I can price it according to its condition when I see it, and be able to get an average price point from people's responses.

So if You are baling what I'm swathing. Give me an idea of what You would be willing to pay for one.

Thanks!

Bought the one I had through Gunbroker when the dollar was even for $2500. Import fees came in just under $3000.

The dollar isn't even right now. They have sat quite a while on the EE for $4000 and higher before.

Currently on Gunbroker...

Valmet M78 in .308 with a 10 and 20 round mag, minor flaw with a nick in the handguard. Milled receiver. $2400 USD.

Valmet M78 in .308 with no magazines in as new condition. Milled receiver. $2900 USD.

Two wildly different valuations. The $2400 advert is pretty good.

Do the exchange rate, and add the import fees, and you know what the current market is from that angle.

Yeah I seen a few on EE around the $3500-$4000 but I never saw their condition. The guy Im dealing withis asking $6000. It comes with a VZ58 stock and grip, along with the factory stock, mak90 mount, tapco hammer, 4 magazines, and 500 rounds. It seems high to be.

$6000 for a M78 in 308 is a joke.

The tapco hammer is not a necessary mod and isn't that expensive to begin with. VZ stocks and grips are cheap, the mak90 mount is cool but not burn my bank account cool. 500 rounds, so what.

It is high.

If you shop around and are patient, you can find just as good, for half as much.

Six grand sounds pretty steep ; but I guess it depends on how bad , and quickly you want one . I doubt if you could resell it for anywhere near that price in todays economy...

Ouch! Pretty high IMO. It is a rare rifle but at that price you could get a supermatch M1A or some other incredibly better shooter in .308. Unless you're a collector hoping the valmet keeps going up I would pass.
