Would it be reasonable to pay up to 400$ for an all matching Russian sks that is un-refurbished and in good shape? Ideally I wouldn't like to go higher than 300 but I don't yet have access to the EE and cant find much elsewhere. Or is it worth waiting for EE approval and searching there?

Realistically, $400 is on the very high price for an SKS. If you can physically look at rifles and handpick the one you want, you may get a good/nice one for regular price. If you order online and you pay the premium for "handpicked", it is what it is. You pay for the 2 second" quick sorting" the reseller does.

Check lever arms "collector's grade" for $300.

Un less its something real special I would wait . There are venders that have them for less , go to a gun show, put a add in the news papers . I picked two laminated stocked ( one is most likely un fired ) for 300 with tax each with slings ,pouches, oil bottles and stripper clips . My be its worth the 400,00 but for a shooter its up there .

Non refurbs seem to go in the 400 range even on the EE. Depends largely on the details. Any Izzy or 55, 49, or early 50 would be worth that.

I wouldn't sell my '54 Tula from the 2008 IZH import for a penny under $500. It's Russian military issued, all-matching and the mag is limited by a small pin welded to the follower arm. It is also in excellent overall condition.

If it’s a all matching non refurb SKS I’d pick it up for 400, I paid 300 for my all matching 54 non refurb you really don’t see a lot out there just the refurb ones.

I understand the high value of a 49, early 50 and Izzy, but why the 55 ?

It's possible that the scarcity of the 1955 Tula is related to the beginning of Chinese Type56 production. Many 1955 production Tulas may very well have ended up in China to help kickstart Chinese output.
