Any idea of the value of a Value of Beretta 686 20G O/U? Great shape other than a few very minor bumps n bruises as a field gun. It was my Father's gun. Only used for a few seasons then stored in the back of the safe for 15 years. A friend wants to buy it, just not sure what to ask?

26 inch barrels. All the engraving, and nice looking wood. Just looking for a fair market value. If I don't pass it off to a friend of the family, I'm not going to sell it.

How good is the friend?

Smaller gauge o/u carry a bit of a premium. Nice wood helps.

I'd say $1850-2200 ish but none of us have seen the gun and the bump and bruises.

I sold mine earlier this year for 1,825 plus shipping. 20g with 28" barrels. All chokes, Beretta plastic case, etc. Nice wood and excellent condition. I can't remember exactly but I think less than 500 shells through it.

Depending where you live, tax on new can add about $300.

Without pictures of what you call minor bumps and bruises it is hard to evaluate. 26 inch barrels are a negative with most buyers these days. As previously said, fancy wood would help the price. Engraving quality has varied on 686 guns over the lifetime of the model too.
It also depends how good a friend also. Nice people don't screw the last dollar from their friends.
I think that somewhere between $1600 and $1800 is the likely range of fair price.

$2315 brand new. Maybe less if you shop around. Figure depreciation - age - scars and no warranty.....

A LOT would depend on very fancy wood.

Rob,

Where is one for $2,315?

I'd consider it for a new bird gun. Edit: I now see they are around that price. Al Flaherty's has one for about 2500.

However, after chasing natural birds down south this weekend I think my plastic fanstastic 1301 Comp is a great gun. We pushed some heavy stuff!
