Value of Bernardelli Gardone Val Trompia O/U 12ga

So is the general consensus that these are high end shotguns and worth a significant amount of money given their rarity?

Medium grade in the shotgun world, like Beretta, B. Rizzini. At one time they were the second most common Italian shotgun brand on the market and because they were well made there are still lots of them around proudly serving their happy owners. Rarity does not make all guns valuable and in this case most Bernardelli models aren’t really any rarer than other European side by side shotguns from 1950-1980. Of course the more expensive models were sold in much smaller numbers and today they are harder to find and and still command a higher price than the plainer models. The Roma 6 was the top of the Roma line of side plated boxlocks, very well finished, very nice hand engraving, nice wood, great handling, great value at the time and they sold well for a comparatively expensive gun. Today a nice Roma 6 will cost more than a Browning BSS, or Ithaca/SKB 200 or Sauer in similar condition and less than a similar high grade well known used British gun, a Winchester Mod 21 or a modern Beretta 687 EELL.
