I have a Colt AR-15 SP1 model that I am thinking of selling.
It has the triangular handguards, and the foreward assist.

I believe it is unfired (aside from factory proofing). Certainly unfired by me.
No box unfortunately.

I was asked about it by a friend, so I dont want to gouge, but I dont want to short myself either. Fair pricing all around.
And as it is sort of spoken for already, no "I'll take it!" PMs please. :D

Thanks!

It certainly appears to look fairly unused or well taken care of. However, it looks like it has the offset adaptor so that a small hole upper can be used, meaning that it's not original to the rifle. SP1s didn't have a forward assist like that rifle. What markings are on the upper and barrel?

I recently got a colt from the mid 80's with a non factory 3x colt scope mounted on top. $1050. My research showed that to be fair. yours looks like its in a little better shape though. Im no expert but $1300 would be my guess. Anyone care to correct me?

Other than L ----> R by the rear sight on the carry handle, I saw no markings whatsoever. Where should I be looking?
I did notice that underneath the handguards, the barrel still had a light sheen of oil. I expect that would get burnt off after the first mag went through it.
Photos to come.

Should be something on top of the barrel, between the sight and the muzzle.

If there is nothing on the right side be the windage wheel then it's probably not a Colt. Colts normally have a raised C and the code of the forge. You're saying there is an L opposite the R? Never heard of one like that. Try looking above the ejection port, some Colts without markings will have a proof mark in this area. It will be a faint marking looking like a square with a sideways C inside of it. A VP inside a triangle should also be present.

As mentioned, SP1 Colt uppers have a raised letter C located on the right hand side below the windage adjustment wheel on the carry handle. I wonder if your upper is a bushmaster? They made an A1 style rifles with teardrop forward assist and a lower that had the raised mag release button guard fencing. I have never seen a colt SP1 with the forward assist and lower mag release button fencing. I have seen a Colt SP1 upper with tear drop style forward assist and triangular handguards, but it had an A2 1:7 heavy barrel. If it is already spoken for then it may not be an issue for you that it does not look 100% colt.
