I am just curious what the value of a 3rd generation colt single action army 4 3/4 barrel in 44 special. it is new in box never been fired never been cocked. original box and papers.

It depends, I'm looking for one in 44 special but most people want other calibers do you have any idea what you might want for it. ?

To be honest I am trying to find what the fair market value is. I paid 1700 for a used .357 3rd gen. The 44 special my dad bought new from a store many many years ago.
 
Stef. You have to consider a few things,

1,Current Colt MSRP is $1,416.00

2,Current Blue Book Value on a 100 per cent gun is $1,225.00

3, The third Gen 44 Special and 357 Mag were discontinued around 1983.

4,Cowboy action shooters want 44-40 or 45 Colt, and Cowboy Action has pretty much fizzled out. Ask any gun shop.

5,Guys who are shooting you high numbers are talking not as Buyers with cash in hand (which I am)but only their personal opinion.

I tell you this from personal experience as I sold a 44 special a few years back and experienced these factors. I am looking for a replacement and I am interested if you want to sell but in the 12 to 14 hundred range.
