I bought an unfired, mint condition, 1983 DU "The Mississippi" 870 Wingmaster last year around this time and paid $600 for it. There's 3 good reasons I paid that much: 1) Someone had replaced the original wood with extra fancy Trap wood that was worth about $500 and the shop I bought it from didn't have a clue. 2) It is one of only 4000 Wingmaster 870s ever produced to have left the factory with a 32" vent rib barrel. 3) I absolutely love the huge DU logo on the right hand side of the reciever!
With patience it will fetch $550. Anyone with half a brain would realize they can buy that gun at that price, pay $100 to have it threaded for Carlson's TruChokes and get 1 each a Skeet, Light Mod, and Improved Mod in their extended Sporting chokes for an extra $165 and still be under the price of a current production Wingmaster by about $100 and better quality too!
