Hi guys,

I'm wanting to know what the value of a minty condition Hungarian Mosin M91/30 with all matching numbers dated 1953 would be. Anyone have some strong knowledge of these rifles?

I can post some pics when I get the chance.

^ ???

Hard to give a value as they're not particularly common in Canada. Mint condition, all matching. At least $500. Since the carbines sell for about $500 and the rifles are actually less common in Canada I would say $600 is probably a good starting point.

Hungarian 91/30s are not common at all, most of the 91/30s they produced were made into m52 sniper rifles.
Hard to say a value but im sure there are lots of collectors here who love to add a hungarian 91/30 to their collection, my self included. They have a very nice fit and finish for a mosin.

Rare? No... Uncommon? Yes. Especially in NA.

Actually they made many many many more 91/30's than PU's.

Go over to gunboards and have a look at the production numbers. Many more 91/30's made than the PU.

The Hungarian 91/30's show up regularly in Europe and Australia. The sniper's are a whole other story.

edit: I will dig out the quoted production numbers.

The 91/30 prefixes go from (just an example, I will post real ones when I find them in my saved files.) AA-HH so there are 100 rifles per series, that's thousands, as opposed to a few hundred of the sniper prefix, which is only BB-BC

Or something along those lines.

Good grief. The reproductions were selling for $700 before the Canadian dollar tanked. Without seeing the rifle up close and personal it may also be a reproduction but we can't tell. If it is a repro and all complete with accessories it is worth at least as much as the repros offered a couple of years ago. If it is real, substantially more. Maybe as high as C$1200.

I have a beat to hell, been there, done that M91/30 authentic sniper with a Hungarian mount/scope. I was recently offered $1000C for it.

Your rifle if it is minty and all correct would bring much more in the US. Go to a site called Milsurpsknowledge.com. They have a photo thread there and a specific montage of a Hungarian sniper that is minty as well. Badgerdog, the owner of the site had it for sale last year. He was asking $1500 US I believe. Go to that site and contact him.

A reproduction Hungarian 48.M infantry rifle? What?

@pcvando, 48.M sniper rifle known serial number prefixes:

1952: BC0707 1953: BC2255 - BC5608

Thanks for all the replies, guys, I appreciate it :)

My rifle is a Hungarian made infantry rifle M91/30. I've had some opinions on its authenticity from members of Tuco's Mosin board when I first bought it, so I believe it to be authentic and original.

I will take and post some nice pics when I get the chance. My wife is about to give birth any day now, so things are bit busy at home lol When it calms down and I have the chance to get out the rifle and take pics, I will post them up for you guys to see.

Cheers!

Production numbers for Hungarian 91/30's are relatively small in comparison to their Russian counterparts...I have seen two in the last 20 years, compared to the M44 and sniper rifles that are here..their numbers are small...Anyone have a source for them, lemme know.I'd love grab another one !

I had a Hungarian sniper in the EE for 8 months with a low price . never even got an offer. good luck moving it.
What price did you have on it? And what makes it different? Those polish ones look cool half Mauser half Mosin.

Stop hoarding them ;) let us have a few

Polish 91/30's are uber rare. I have seen what I thought may have been one. But it's possible they don't exist.

Poland did however re-stock 91/30 PU snipers, reworked in Poland, and sit in beautiful Polish made stocks and Polish marked wood and scopes/mounts and reworked metal.

Polish 91/30 PU snipers are insanely rare. Much rarer than the Hungarian PU's, which are already super rare.

Poland never made M44 carbine snipers, and the one that keeps making its rounds on the EE is an utter BS bubba special fake.

Poland did make beautiful M44's...likely the best M44 copy known...its possible that they did produce a 91/30...aside from the refurbed Russian PU sniper rifles...have never seen either though, aside from pictures..

Take a look they have Mauser features the muzzle end of the rifle and the Mauser 7.92 round. Hence the half Mauser?

Barrel bands and chambering don't make a mosin a mauser. The name is based on the action design. If those features made that rifle "half mauser", then the Wz.48 .22 trainer is half cooey.
