Value of Japanese A-5 vs. Belgian A-5

I sold a vg A5 at the calgary show for $350. It was a friends & I flipped it for him. Had it been a 20 ga I could have got a lot more (600). More than 400 is a push for a fixed choke gun.

My A5 1971 is a 12gauge, ribbed barrel, fixed choke, paid $450, its my favorite gun in my collection, will never sell it, one of my sons will get it one day

I would pay an extra 100 or so for a newer jap a5. Having interchangeable chokes and steel safe barrels are worth it for me.

I would definitely pay extra for a Jap Auto-5 Magnum with Invector chokes. That way I would have the best of both worlds. A modern barrel with on a classic action. All I would need to do is slap a synthetic stock on it so I wouldn't damage the wood while I'm mucking around in a corn field waiting for the geese.
