Value of Lakefeild Mark II

They are not knockoffs of the savage mark II, they were the prdecesser of them.

First they were cooey, then lakefield took over cooey, then savage took over lakefield.
 
They were never cooey they were lakefield mk11 in the 60's and 70's and at some point became the savage . The cooey was the model 64 which became the model 64 savage. Lakefield MK1, single shot, MK11,bolt action Repeater, MK 111 semi auto. all from the 60's -70's
 
I'd pay more than has been suggested for one in mint condition with less than 25 rounds.
If I had one to sell I'd ask more, probably at least $150.
 
They had inherent problems with there extractors not crabbing cases and slipping over the case ,worked on many of them $75-$100 for a as new one is fair if its working correctly.

Yah gun shop would have taken mine as a trade in (good to fair condition) for $45.

Mine is really picky about ammo but with Winchester HV black box stuff and well oiled they work reliably...

Any price you'll get is just a token, they don't go for much.

Then you should PM him and make an offer... it would be win win for both of you as they retailed under 150 and are not exactly collectables....

I would have thought they would have retailed for $65.00-$85.00 back then. However, retail prices from 30-40 years ago has nothing to do with value today. That is set by many factors regarding a particular gun.

Not a Savage 'Knock off...Savage continued production after Lakefield. The accu-trigger is all Savage (and a fine thing too).

They were available at CT right beside the Lakefield 64b (also still produced by Savage).

I have one and, it is plenty accurate, and affordable (won't try to sell beside Gunsaholic's though). Current value is a tricky thing....Single shot Cooeys seem to get similar prices. As good as they are, I'd rather the Lakefield MkII. Magazines still produced (under Savage), you can mount optics, and not feel terrible if it should get scratched. Also, not to be overlooked (in Cooey fervor), it's CANADIAN 'eh! Lots of them out there, not too many in the EE...that must mean something too.

Mine has a very fancy "custom" bolt handle too (made by the world's worst welder)

I got one about 20 years ago. I remember the catalog, and if I remember correctly there was the single shot, which was $100, the MkII for $110 and the semi-auto for $120.

Summertime used to involve a few trips to town to buy a brick of ammo, then endless shooting until I was out. Mine has seen considerable use, and has never failed in any way. Great little guns for the price, though certainly nothing fancy or special. At a local auction every decent .22 was going for more than 100, but that might have just been the fever!

I have tended a couple of gun auctions in the past year and I found the same thing. The cheapest .22's were going for about $110.00 unless they were in very bad shape. I guess a lot of people are looking for walnut and metal, depending on the year/gun of course.

The problems were mostly from inproper cleaning and care, i have 2 of them and each has had over 25k of rounds put through them. Never had a issue.
