Yep, another price check.

This time it's a Mannlicher Schoenauer Model MCA in 30-06 with bushnell command post 4x scopechief II scope and Pachmayr side mount with iron sights.

G-vg condition.

I've looked in the EE, on the Ellwood epps website, and on gun broker. So far the rough prices I've found have been between $500 and $2500. No idea why the variation, or if they're selling.

This one has the plastic tang safety and a tip off mount. It has been handled, but even then, very little wear to the gun.

Saw almost the identical gun in Fredericton, N.B. at a gun show on Labour Day weekend.
Asking price was a very reasonable $650, it was still there on Sunday.

closer to $2000 than $500 that's for sure!

 I'm not sure what to make of that comment... did you mean closer to $500?... otherwise I'm going to have to buy it, and I really can't afford to do that right now:p

I see... so value about $500?

They vary because there are many variation of the Mannlicher Schoenauer available. Any M-S in good condition, with no rust, broken stock, cracked stock etc is pretty much a steal at $650, imo. I would say a realistic price is ~$900-1200 for one in very good condition. Have you handled it? Work the action. It should be like greased lightning. That rotary magazine - they don't make them with that kind of craftsmanship any more.

Hope that helps.

Looked at it today, there is a rub in the bluing where the scope tips off. That is absolutely it.... barrel is flawless, everything functions A+, has been shot 40x, +/- 5rds...

Craftsmanship on the older M/S is the best there is, as someone else said "work the bolt", if that doesn't convince you to drop $1000 on that baby, nothin' will!

To clarify my earlier comment, closer to 2000 than 500, I'd suggest a fair price would be a bit more than $1250 (with the scope and mounts). If it's priced less than that it's a steal, provided that you like the rifle!

I didn't mean to imply that the M-S in Fredericton wasn't worth $650, just that the majority of guys at gunshows wouldn't know a nice gun at a good price if you beat them over the head with it.
Anything south of $1000 is a good price.
I'd have bought it myself but my wife doesn't have much of a sense of humour.

I would be interested to hear what model it is -- it is stamped on the front receiver ring
Looks like a 1961 MCA? Does the side mount look factory or a home built model?

does it have a plastic tang safety or metal tang safety or no tang safety?

Hmmm. I could not tell you...

The side mount is definitely a factory made mount, I remember it did have factory markings on it, but not what they were. Has a tip off mount on it. Don't remember where the safety was exactly, but I did not see any plastic on the gun, just metal and wood :)

I'd buy it at $650; It is a great price. That rifle is much better quality than a new Sako, imo. What do those go for ~$2000 with tax?

I have a MS collection of sorts.
I have an engraved MS Premier that regularly sells for over $6500 in the USA.
This one is worth close to 2Gs.
This one hass the old split bridge receiver and you won't find a smoother action.
