Hey folks I have what I believe to be a mixmaster 1911. I thought it was a rem rand but have done some more research and have some doubts. It has an origial type 3 remington rand slide, however the frame is what I believe to be an ithica frame made in 1945. The slide is in nice shape with the green parkerized finish. the fram is a black finish with some pitting around the trigger gaurd. The pistol functions flawlessly. Just wondering if anybody might be able to help me out with its value. Thanks

I can't give much info as to the value but from the partial serial number you show...
Remington Rand: S/N 916,405 to 955,000 = 1943. If it's 200 000 range it's obviously older. If the serial # is 2 000 000 range then....
Colt: S/N 2,244,804 to 2,380,013 = 1945. A serial number preceded by a "NO" instead of a "No" indicates manufacture by Remington-Rand. Yours looks like a N small o which means not a remrand. An RCD inspector mark or double spacing between the M and 1911A1 indicates manufacture by Union Switch and Signal.
If you care to Pm the complete serial # I can give quite a bit in regard to date of manufacture from info I have. Positive ID, then value. Or just trade me for a 410 bolt shotgun I have ? :)

Actually, here's a link to a great site that will have lots of good info about your 1911A1:

http://www.coolgunsite.com/

Including a toolbar on the left with links to lots of great pages of info, such as "ID Pages" with descriptions & photos of the small parts and serial number ranges & years of manufacture by various contract mfgs of 1911's & 1911A1's. As well as a "1911 Gallery" of photos of various 1911's & 1911A1's that you can compare your pistol to.
