Value Of Restorable Ross Rifle MK III

Times have changed. Two or three years ago, there was a full barrelled Mk III at a dealer here in Ontario, with a cut stock. What was very noticeable was that the bolt was assembled incorrectly, and the bolt was in the action!. It was listed for 175$ - I passed - I believe Tiriaq picked it up.

I remember that rifle. Reset the bolt into proper configuration. Don't think I bought it though. Lots of projects.

I recall a restored Mk. III selling in the EE - forend had been "stretched" with a splice under the middle band for around $1000.

Is there an interesting back story to this photo? Are we looking at the remain of a Ljungmann? I might speculate an "out of battery" event or an experiment with hand loading gone wrong. The tough part is that someone could have been seriously injured judging by the extent of the damage.

I read the back story on that one. Danish surplus ammo killed it. I have been reading the gun needs to shoot as close to milspec pointed M41 6.5x55 swed or else they can explode. I read about an adjustable gas system mod for the rifle. So far the best load I’ve found is 38gr of IMR 4064 w/140gr pointed bullets.

Got a link to that back story? I'm sure many would love to read it.
