Hello All;

Here are the pics of the firearms that we have questions about. My fathers friend is looking to sell off his collection of firearms. He has had these a very long time and has no idea what they could be worth.

Any help is appreciated with regards to figuring out their value.

(1) Robbins and Lawrence US rifle, made in Windsor VT US 1850, complete with the ramrod. This is a muzzle loader **Ed believes this is the first military rifle made in the USA. This rifle is in decent shape for its age.

(2) V R Enfield 1886, Martini-Henry Mark4, 577-450, this is a single shot lever action top load rifle. **Ed says this one is commonly known as the "Khyber Pass Rifle". It is also in very decent shape complete with ramrod.

(3) Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 1943, its been sporterized, the barrel shortened slightly, the bolt reshaped and the magazine has been cut to 5 shots. This rifle is also in good shape.

(5) Remington Nylon 66 semi auto 22. In good shape with some minor rusting on the receiver. Nothing a little steel wool and oil couldn't clean up.

Cheers & THANKS!!!

1) Sounds like a US Rifle, Model of 1841, AKA the Mississippi rifle. Originally .54 with a fixed rear sight, many were upgraded during the Civil War to .58 with an adjustable sight. This rifle could have significant value, but condition is really important.
2) $250 -$1000, depending on exact model, specific details about condition.
3) Nominal value only, $50 -$75, as a cheap hunting rifle.
4) Perhaps $150 -$200. These are not bad for a sported service rifle.
5) Maybe $125. These are very useful .22s.

I am no expert on firearm prices. These are prices I see here on GN

3)Check the EE always over $100 but depends on condition.

4)Redfield peep sight will add around $100 to the value.

5)I see these for around $175.

Remember it is easier to lower the price than it is to raise it.

By 'Khyber Pass Rifle', does he mean 'Khyber Pass Copy'? If so, I wouldn't fire it if I were you. There are guides out there to help you determine just what kind of rifle it is.

Pictures would really help here, especially for the first two rifles.

#3 is no doubt a Martini, either a Martini-Henry, Martini-Metford or a Martini-Enfield. The MH is chambered for 577-450 (45 cal) while the ME is chambered for 303 British. The MM is chambered for the blackpowder version of the 303 british round and is much rarer.Pictures of the markings on both sides of the receiver and on top of the barrel just in front of the receiver as well as any markings on the stock are required. Khyber Pass rifles are distinguished by their rough construction as they are handmade copies of the real thing. MH and ME rifles sell for 500.00 to 1000.00 depending on markings. Check www.denner.ca. Lots of info at http://p223.ezboard.com/bbritishmilitariaforums
If it is a MM with a "DC inside a diamond" mark on it I will take it off your hands for 100.00. :D

#2 sounds interesting. (corrected)

Pictures are needed of that one.

bdft I suspect has it right. I suspect its not a Khyber rifle but a martini like what the British were using at the time of the Afgan wars

Updated with pics of the Martini Henry. Anyone else have a guess at the values of the rifles? Especially the Mississippi rifle?

Cheers
