Hi All
I have decided to sell one of my Enfields, but I have no idea what it might be worth so I am asking for input from all of you.
It's a 1943 Longbranch #4 that went through FTR in 1956.
I rescued it from the US many years ago when it was still legal to bring firearms across.
The previous owner had removed the rear sight and put on an S&K no smithing scope mount.
I removed the scope mount and installed sights (obtained from another member here) that would have been put on at the FTR.
The action, bolt and magazine are all matching.
There is a bit of wear below the safety, and on the front sight protective ears.
There is something written on the left side of the buttstock that looks like a rack number to me.
Someone told me that it doesn't look like something that someone would write on his own rifle so it is most likely service related in some way.
The barrel is beautiful. Sharp rifling, and no pitting that I can see.
It has a #1 bolthead.
On the top of the front barrel band is N79
Just behind the front barrel band on the metal part of the front handguard is stamped F56, and down to the right from that (still on the metal part of the handguard ) is stamped 51
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
