value of this rifle by Brown Precision

I have a rifle that I am curious of the actual value, it is a 338wm with a classic win 70 action in a Brown ultralite fiberglass stock , barrel is engraved "Brown Precision 338 win mag" here are some pics

You haven't gave us much info on this firearm.
Have you shot it, what is the accuracy?
It appears to be bedded.
The pic of the action shows wear on the bolt, (may be just the pic though)
The ported barrel, some like it some don't, barrel length?
Weight of the rifle.
How does it function and feed, does it have a good trigger?

thats not a classic action, its a 30-06 pre-64 action that has been opened up, but with a 30-06 box and probably follower.

nice rifle if the work was all done right. Most pre-64's converted to magnums don;t feed particlularly well if all they did was open the bolt face. I find the barrel band and magnaporting a little funky but to each their own.

Value? if the bore is good and it was converted properly 800-1200. Is that the rifle that was at Epps last month?

yes , bought it from epps. I am just curious cause I have surfed a bit and see some crazy high prices attached to rifles built by Brown Precision.

I dont think the guys at epps really knew much about it, for one they told me the stock was wood when it is actually one of the fiberglass ones that BP sells for about $500 us plus another $200 for the bedding.

I havent had a chance to shoot it yet , the rifle is very lite(could be a thumper in 338:() the fiberglass , foam injected stock weighs practically nothing.

the ballance is not that nice due to the lite stock , it feels front heavy, it will be fine on a bench but not sure about in the woods.
the trigger is set quite lite and breaks very nice.

the "wear on the bolt" is actually just oil residue, I need to give it a good cleaning.yes it is bedded

I believe the barrel is made by Shilen, PB putts that funky barrel band standard on all their pro hunter series rifles, I added the front stud so I could mount a bipod.
 
I used to own this rifle and bought it off a CGN member out west who was helping sell it for a friend.

The fellow I bought it off took it in as rent payment for a farm hand he had working for him. There wasn't any mention of where it came from before that although a local gunsmith advised that the owner of Brown Precision used to hunt in the area and had left a couple of his rifles as tips for the guides. It is most likely one of these rifles.

I phoned Brown Precision and they were unable to provide any info from the serial number although they did say it was most likely a Shilen barrel.

The receiver is a pre-64 long action , not a magnum. The rifle always fed well for me. The mounts are the heavy converted conetrol mounts with enlarged screws.

The rifle shot well for me as expected shooting 225gr bullets over H4350. The only reason I traded it to Epps is lack of use. I have a 35 Whelen that I'm dearly in love with and it is my primary moose gun.

I did hunt for an entire season with it and liked it a fair bit. It is one serious working rifle and likely couldn't be worn out in one mans lifetime.

The trigger is great and the felt recoil isn't bad at all. I think you got a fair deal from Epps on it and could probably resell it at anytime for what you paid. Even more if you cleaned it up a bit and repainted the stock.
