Hi guys,

Can anyone help a suitable asking price for a 80s made rifle as per title, I think it's a 1:9 twist. They only made them 3 years according to my research years ago and the 223 came with two rates of twist and I measured mine to be the faster one. It has a Timney trigger in it and I still have the original, which has a burr on it. It's all very good condition but with a couple small handling marks on the stock and a bit of blue wear on the edges especially the muzzle. Bore is good, scope not included unless extra added (It's a Leupold VX-1 4-12)

thanks
Mike

As far as i know that particular model was made in the mid 80's (not the 70s). I had one in .270 awhile back. I paid around 450 for it in excellent condition. I would consider between 450 - 550 a fair price for your rifle. Hope that helps.

$500 with the scope, $425 without. The scope would fetch $150-$200 alone on the EE but as an add on it won't add as much. Someone might give $575 for the package, but you'd have to wait for the right buyer.

It was 80s, I corrected the post.

Thanks for the input guys... any other opinions out there ... I'd like to get a wide scope of input before I decide to keep or sell it...

It will go quick at under 600$ for just the rifle. The condition looks good plus the trigger and 223's always sell well at this time of year.

$700.00 - $750.00 for the package.

I think "Boo" is closer to the mark.
Biggly'un izz sett'in yew up fur a purchase.

Those Leupold scopes have gone up a fair bit in the last wee while.
Nice package in decent shape.

The fuddlie rings jest add to the charm.
Kah-knawbby's on the proper side too.
Should make the SuperFuddCubb'appy.

150-200 is way too low for that scope BUM. You know they go for almost double that on EE...

Ya and... seen lots of 10/22's sell for double of what a new one was too. It's the EE 95% of the stuff is over priced

I bought a m70 in 223 a few years ago. Paid $550 for the gun gave it back after because non of the rounds would stay in the mag. Nice guns though shame I don't have it

This thread should help it sell ;)

LOL I've had a few offers but they're mostly based on the first couple estimates, which are lower than I'd sell. Thanks for the comments everyone, I was in the ballpark. I want to use this scope on another rifle so I will likely sell separately anyway. I'll post for sale in a couple days.
cheers
Mike

i have the same rifle in 22-250 and mine also wears a vx-1 4-12. Mines on my "never sell" list, but i would think you should get at least $700-750 for it with the scope. That's a nice little package you have there and would be a good setup for coyotes.

Not at all. A push feed M70 is just not worth what some people think or wish it's worth.

Last scope I bought on the EE was a VX3 1.5-5x scope for $250...retailed somewhere around $600 at the time (I bought it while the VX3 was still the current incarnation of the VariX-III/VariX-3/VX3/VX3i model). Take the $520 That scope runs for new on Cabelas and multiply by the same factor (about 40%) and you get about $213. So really, not that far off. Especially for a scope at the bottom end of the product line. And as hometownhero points out, EE prices are a ####ty yardstick.

It isn't realistic using a "formula" based on a separate purchase, I had an M1 carbine given to me years ago but I'd never sell it for that ;)

I've had offers that far exceed your price since posting this, and I'd never sell it for your values. But to each his own, I guess you won't be buying it.

I need to see if I get what I'm raising cash for the end of the week before I sell. I already jumped the gun and sold a vx-3 3.5-10 then lost a scope I was planning on upgrading to and now I might be left with this one. The sharpness is close but the vx-3 is noticeably better especially with glare and eye box.

thanks again to everyone for all the advice and the compliments on the gun.

Mike, like I said, I wasn't going to be buying it in the first place. You've got a rifle that isn't particularly desirable and a lower end name brand scope. If you can sell it for more, go ahead and do so. If someone wants to pay you a premium price because it's a Winchester with a Leupold on it then bully for you, but it doesn't change the reality of what it is.
