Value of Winchester Model 70XTR

A friend of mine is holding a gun as collateral and is wondering the value of it.

Winchester model 70 XTR Sporter Magnum 338 win mag with 30" barrel

Engraved by H Bonham with gold enlay on the bolt, receiver, drop plate and barrel end.

Any info is appreciated.

Sounds like whoever measured the barrel measured the receiver too.

Barrel end? I think it would be worth more if you lopped about 4" off that barrel.

I'm not a Winchester guy but I always thought XTR meant push feed and as for the engravings and such? Modifications don't generally add as much to the gun as they cost. I have no idea who H Bonham is but I'm sure a Winchester guy will pipe in and help you out.

I paid $500 for an XTR that was pretty minty a few years ago. I imagine they should sell between $400 and $500 still.

Frankly, without pictures and your description of what appears to be a non-standard rifle, it is really hard to give you any idea of what someone might want to pay for it. Maybe it really is a 30 inch custom barrel, and the engraving might be first class. But, is it a factory stock, or custom? In the end, it would depend on what someone would pay you for the rifle.
