Hello everyone. I need your assistance. A friend of mine has the gun stated which he wants to sell. No pics at the moment. I have inspected the gun and rate condition at 60-65%. Locks up good. All origdinal sights. Bore is clean and shiny. Small crack in stock near the tang. Any and all input as to FMV is welcome.DOM-1934. I understand guns like this may have collector value. Thanks Dave.

The 2003 Standard Catalog of Firearms lists a Rem. 14 1/2 in Very Good condition at $750, Good condition at $500, Fair condition at $350.
Add 10% if it is a 14 1/2R carbine with 18.5" barrel.
Manufactured from 1912 to 1922.

Here in Canada I would say $350-$450 realistically. At least in my area. The 14 1/2 was a well built little rifle as was the model 14/141 but there isn't a lot of interest out there. Old Remington pumps seem to command as much attention as old Winchester semi's.

This is not a Model 14 or 141 in 32 Rem. It's a 14 1/2 in 44-40.

I've followed at least the past 25 "Old Rem pumps" that have sold on CGN and at local Gun Shows in the past three-four years, and I can guarantee that if he put it on here for $500 with pics, and it would sell in 15 minutes. You wouldn't pay that, but many others would - myself included, and I have seven Model 14/141's already.

Agree with Andy they sell quick and for 400 plus from what Ive seen. I paid 450 for one and am happy although it is not near the condition of some of the 14's and 141's I've acquired which were about half the $.

I also agree with Andy's estimates.
Does the gun in question have a Dominion of Canada Proof stamp? (for my own intrest more than a valuation!)
I was happy to give $450 for this one

PS: I've been told that the US values for these are 2x what we see here in Canada

Wow...I guess stuff is worth what people are willing to pay...I know where there is 2 right now in better shape than that one. I can get them for $150-$200 each. I was thinking of getting one,so I can set the barrel back, and rechamber to 44 mag.

Maybe they command a higher price elsewhere in Canada but here in the Maritimes $450 tops unless in high condition. American prices don't mean much in Canada, lot bigger market and more Remington collectors.

The one for $900 U.S. is worth $500 Canadian...

I wouldn't pay more than $350, probably less.......... If it had a "thumbnail safety", I'd add $100. More than half have small cracks in the stocks, so lack of cracks can add some value, but not usually very much, unlike most other guns, where it's not so "normal".

But for a 14 1/2 in the same condition, I have $500 sitting here.

Now we know that everything ever sold is "worth whatever someone's willing to pay" - we get that. But the question (on CGN) was "what's it worth", so I took a leap and assumed that he meant if it was sold on CGN. What your buddies in Hunt Camp in your isolated county might pay is irrelevant to the OP (and me), unless he wants to sell it to them, and so is the fact that they don't consider them "collectable" - they sure are.

Sure they are collectible and nice little rifles, they are just not collected by as many people therefore the average "selling" not asking price is a little lower. Personally if I am interested in collecting a particular model and not many others are, that's a good thing, keeps prices down.

Saw one at EPPS today. In as good of shape as the one above for $350. Just to see how low they would go on it I tried. $300 was bottom line.
