Van Isle West Coast M14 Support Group -Important Update

Well, the Esquimalt Legion 132 says "Uh, no, we're not doing that." Probably an insurance/liability issue I would guess when renting a hall for such an event. I don't have enough room at my place.

I spoke with one of the top members of the Victoria Fish and Game executive a few days ago. This person is also very influential in the Island Shooting League [ ISL ]. One of the topics of conversation was the upcoming Wetcoast M14 session at VFG.

During our conversation, he was VERY supportive of the Wetcoast M14 event. He even mentioned that he'd probably stop by to check it out. At that time, neither one of us was aware of any conflict or cancellation of the Wetcoast M14 session????
So what exactly has changed???

Below is the calendar for July 26th, as posted on the VFG website calendar. According to the calendar, VFG is holding an Island Shooting League practical pistol qualifier on July 26th.

There is also a VFG club PRACTICAL PISTOL match tomorrow, July 12th, and most of the ISL/practical shooters will be there. I will discuss it with them ... the VFG clubhouse facilites are quite large, only booked till 1:00 PM, and the ISL match shooting is schedulled to be over about 3:30 PM ....
possibly we can still share the clubhouse during their match [ or after 1:00 PM ] and/or the rifle range after they are finished shooting on it [ after 3:30 pm ]???

All you Van Isle M14 people who have been waiting patiently,
Don't give up hope just yet.
If not at the VFG range ....
anyone in Victoria have a BIG private house???

I was told by Kyjelly, this events organizer that someone had told him that i was way backed up and would be too busy to run the clinic..... so he apparently went on that and cancelled the date.
this is what i was told.

I have been contacted by the vice president of the vic fish and game and look forward to working with them in the future to reschedule the event.
I am also working with 2 lowermainland ranges who are expressing support for monthly clinics and dedicated m14 range evenings :D
will keep you all posted.

the 26th is a bummer but as of now it is cancelled.... not my decision, the date was solid on my end.
future lowermainland clinics at my house are a no go...... as i am moving...... so all you 100 mile, billys puddle and area folks....... we are gonna be neighbors :D

well.... I hate to say it but a July date is now out of the cards....... However, I am now in active discussion mode to reschedule the event at the same location and possibly...... maybe .... might try to schedule a few events, a few months apart, in advance. I'll keep you all posted.

Also, I am in very productive discussions with a lowermainland range that fully supports the idea of providing a permanent home for the west coast m14 support group, including range use to try out our newly tweaked and tuned rifles

It's quite possible that i am moving up north to an 800 acre ranch :D but i will still make the trips down for the clinics.
I have every intention of following through with rescheduling the victoria event and possibly we can arrange something for a date in august. I'll be taking one of several fishing trips to nootka sound which run monday to friday so could fit a clinic in either the sunday before or the saturday after. I'll check the dates and will keep you posted.

So some guy cancelled the event out of the blue over hearsay?
*sigh*

Well, I guess it'll be a good day to head up to the MP range with my Edge .40 and hit some steel then. ;)

Let me know if you're planning anything for Victoria this month, I should have my M14 by then.
