Hey Y'all

I have a Savage 10 FCP-K that I just received. I was thinking of glass bedding it myself... but this is my first precision rifle and the last thing I want to do is make a mistake...

Are there any folks who do this professionally in Vancouver area?

...if so, how much are we takin for the service... it can't be too bad!

Thanks

Trev

Just throwing out an idea for you : do you have something like an old sporter or an SKS you could practice on ? If so, that would be a good idea and then you will be able to approach the Savage job with experience and confidence.

I am in the same boat for my own rifle. I started researching it on the interweb and found lots of videos on YouTube that seem pretty good. I am going to attempt it myself this weekend, it certainly isn't rocket science just have to take my time and double and triple check my work. Here is a video I found really helpful...

Even though this guy beds a Remington, He does a good job on the video and I am certain you could adapt it to your Savage. Good luck either way you go.

Yeah, I just talked to my friend today, who happens to train the VPD in tactical firearms usage... and how to ride a motorcycle :), he also does PAL and CORE courses ... and he said, don't worry about glass bedding it, it is already aluminum pillar bedded and that I would be amazed what this rifle will do out of the box. He also mentioned that the FCP-K is one of the most overlooked rifles, and everyone he has ever talked to that owns one love them... can't wait to fire this thing!

its already piller bedd3ed

Pillar bedding is great, but it only controls stock compression by preventing you from overtorquing the action screws. It does nothing to control front to back movement or rotational movement of the action in the stock. I am no expert here, but have seen the benefits of having a rifle that started as pillar bedded go to a full action bedding and saw the results in terms of consistent accuracy. I would still get the action bedded if you are looking for everything that rifle has to offer. Good luck.

Thanks man, I will look into bedding it down the road... I haven't even fired this puppy yet!

aluminum pillars are great, although they are much better than a factory synthetic or wood, I have no faith in them except for the fact than they make a nice solid stock to bed your action into :)
