Hey, is anyone here a member of or frequent the Vancouver Gun Club (in Richmond)? I've never shot clay, so I'm wondering if there's an open practice range / times where I could stop in and try it out. I'd like to try a good set of singles with my new (and first!) semi. Perhaps a fanatic interest will ensue...I gather it's playing golf with a shotgun :shotgun:

You need to ask "the rifleman" from this forum, he will know and is a really nice guy. I like that club and I wish I could shoot at it more.

$10 for a round of trap!!! I can't imagine that is right . I shot at VGC for years until 2 years ago when I moved up here to Oliver. Seems to me it was about $4.50 or $5.00 then.

Duke,

March 11, PoCo has sunday trap/skeet, come up and try your new gun, it's $4/round and i can try to get your day card waived....

Weren't the Richmond club supposedly in the process of reallocating to a new location and facility?

hr: March 11th you say, eh? Won't be able to make that day specifically, unfortunately...but I'll look into their Skeet options as well. Thanks for the offer!

jacky: thanks for the contact, I'll track this fellow down!

sf: The Richmond rod and gun club had their range shut down a handful of years back because someone decided that it was unsafe to have a rifle range on the same island as an airport (despite decades without incident...). First gun I ever fired was one of their loaner .22 cooeys. Something of historical interest...this range was first used to test cannons on WWII fighters. At any rate, they have a proposed new range that's still awaiting funding.

If I remember correctly, $10 for drop in, $5 for 25 clays.

On weekends, they open at noon, and I think there's an evening shoot Wed nights...

Really nice facility, and closer than PoCo for me.

dlau, has it right.

Trap and skeet are $5 for 25 targets. Sporting clays are $10 for 50 targets. Wednesday afternoon/evenings are open for trap practice, once daylight savings time starts. Sat and Sun are open noon till 5-5.30. Sporting clays is open Sundays, around 9 AM. (breakfast available Sundays at the clubhouse) 12 GA only target shells are available at the clubhouse. You can shoot lead target loads only, #7-1/2 shot is the largest you can use.

Membership is $100, or $10 day fees. Members can buy a card for $50 that will give you 11 shoots, at skeet or trap, basically you get one round free.

International trap, practise shoots are often open on weekends, and your welcome to try it. See Tony at the Club for info. Doubles trap, and or wobble trap can also be shot, if you get enough shooters wanting to try it.

Gun safety is #1. Actions open at all times, till your on the post ready to shoot. Hope to see some new shooters out there this year!:)

I knew you were the go-to guy rifleman. I guess a little over a week and I will be seeing you at the Vancouver Club. Did you shoot last weekend's PITA ??

Looking forward to it.

Hey, sorry again...more random questions. Is the club going to be open on Easter long weekend? Also, is there a position where stationary target shooting can take place? I have a number of friends who want to come give it a try...some who have shot a shotgun, but some who have not and would like to take a crack at some paper first...

I just joined Mission and they have a great set up. Three pads with three launchers that can be set up for voice activation if your shooting by yourself. New members pay $125 and $100 to renew. 25 targets is like $4.

There are a lot of good trap shooters at that Mission club. You could probably get some quality instruction from a few od those guys.
