Hello All,

Been a hunter for all my life and I am starting to get interested in long range target shooting. Is anybody aware of somewhere to practice shooting beyond 300 yards on the south island. I'm already a member of the club on the Malahat and it's not setup for long range shooting.

Thanks in advance.

You're best bet is to get along with the guys shooting in the rural valley areas. If going by yourself make sure you check on the Regs for where you can or cannot discharge.

600 yard range in campbell river, shoots are held monthly, also there is a VISL match every month, locations and distances change monthly.....
PM for details....

The BCRA range is only available on sundays if it is not booked by the military, no benches or covered shooting line and you either have to rent target pullers to work the butts or take your turn in the bunkers, reduced membership cost of 45.oo only covers the first year of membership, full rates apply after that.

Thanks for the quick replies and info. I was hoping there was a location more convenient than Nanaimo. I will probably enlist a buddy and venture up one Sunday to have a look.

If you venture up to campbell river ... The second Sunday of every month is benchrest. If you want to just go shoot to sight your gun in, or try some new loads on that day, they wont let you. Compitition only, which you can partake in for a small fee of $20 or less i believe. You will need a membership. You can get it at River Sportsman on your way through.

The benchrest weekend is quite a bit of fun, lots of shooters, usually hotdogs and burgers
