Parasite or not, I'm sorry but I find the idea of eating a wolf kinda revolting actually. I didn't even realize that folks ate them. Yukkk.

We must have allot of closet Koreans on this board.

OK Frist NO one eats Wolves around here I never said anyone was eating wolves ither.

The stuff im talking about was NOT from eating the meat! Gezzz aint there any active trappers on this board that can help me out here

The instructor said wear Gloves now he wouldnt say that cause he was worried we were gona sit down by our dead wolf and start chowing down on it! :p
There some parasite in the Blood or in the fur and once inside you it eats ya up kills ya dead there was NO cure in the early 80s for it.

Oh Calum you could be right about that thing Immititus that kinda sounds like it but it was not caused by eating the meat it was spread by blood but after reading your link i guess that could be it!

I was told by an experienced trapper that the parasites or other nasties were in the scat and could be inhaled and you would die a horrible death:eek: He didn't say anything about the blood or hide.

No i dont think thats it. the gloves were to protect from Blood. Or body fluids maby your right cause alot of animals crap when ya Club there lites out.

Theres a thread about Rabits and some weird thing they have to make ya sick i was thinking maby it was that, as someone said dogs get it to.

It's called Hydatid disease which is caused by the larval form of the Canid Tapeworm.

The tape worm eggs in the feces stick to the fur and people can inhale them. Organs infected form cysts that could seriously harm you. Liver, lungs or even your brain can form cysts. You can die if your brain gets infected.

Wearing gloves is important and it wouldn't hurt to go the extra mile and wear a dust mask even.

Other diseases that are transformable to humans from handling are Sarcoptic Mange which is a mite and ring worm. Ring Worm infected animals can lose their hair just like mange and often is mistaken for mange.
